it was a setup and you know it, he fought a nobody to be gifted the title. No, this should be his norm. If you have a world title you are expected to defend against the wordls best, and not coast it against nobodies then expect a slap on the back for fighting a real opponent five fights in. nevertheless fonfara is not a terrible opponent at all.
I agree, but tell that to the many world champions in the sport today. Cleverly can't be the only one who gets singled out for this.
Whilst not endorsing the OP, Fonfara has fought 6 times since this thread was posted, his stock has risen a fair bit since then, previously didn't really have any notable names on his record. So I don't think it's a fair comparison. A lot can change in just a matter of months in Boxing never mind years. Stevenson vs. Froch wouldn't have been a big fight this time last year when Adonis was mandatory, now it's a pretty big, HBO type fight
He does deserve credit seeing as it was a voluntary defence, and it wasn't Cleverlys fault that Braehmer kept pulling out of the title fight
Cleverly is not a World class fighter and this move to cruiser will end badly if he gets into the ring with anyone above domestic or European level.
