If IBF have ordered a rematch should Froch/Groves be declared a N/C?

Could Groves have the result of the first fight overturned? How would this work through an appeal to the BBBoC and would they be receptive as the IBF have effectively labelled them as incompetent?

Further mind games from Groves against Froch...

Can't see anyway a decision can be overturned. The board will need to speak the IBF and Howard Foster no doubt I'm sure he will fave action from them. I think if the IBF are saying bad Ref and Judging surely they would need to overturn but there is a lot of cans of worms getting opened up here

There wasn't a foul or anything like that, and in situations like British stoppages, short- and longcounts, robberies etc the verdict never gets overturned.

Just be happy there's a rematch ordered.

Why would Froch want the rematch? He wants to fight in the States; American TV has made it clear Groves would not be an acceptable opponent. The IBF have only 'suggested' a rematch; thus Froch/Chavez Jr will probably still go ahead, with the small proviso that the winner fights Groves. And as we all know, contracts are always honoured in this sport. ;)

Groves needs to find a different path, show he is indeed world class, and then maybe the big fights will happen for him.

Well reading the IBF statement yesterday i'd think so. They may as well give Groves the belt because he wasn't ever hurt and was counterpunching off the ropes supposedly and with his eyes closed! which sums up how easy a night it was.

The IBF suggested a rematch, they did not mandate one. Froch/GrovesII is unlikely to be either man's next fight, the politics is not right for it yet.

I don't believe the rematch will happen neither but i don't see Froch holding his title when he faces Chavez Jnr which he will IMO. There's no way this fight happens in 90 days. To much money, to little build up for it. People need to stop suggesting Wembley in April and other massive stadiums.

With regards to them suggesting and no mandating it i feel this statement from them says they want it next as a governing body.

After a review of the information presented to the panel, it has been determined that there was inappropriate conduct by the referee that affected the outcome of the fight. Based on the foregoing the IBF is ordering an immediate rematch between Carl Froch and George Groves for the IBF Super Middleweight title. The Bout must take place within 90 days, or by April 24, 2014, and neither boxer can take any other fight in that time frame. The signed contracts are due within 15 days or by February 8, 2014. If the IBF doesn't receive the contracts by February 8, 2014, we will call for a Purse Bid.

I suggest you get your facts right, the IBF have ordered a rematch or Froch will have to vacate :

They have ordered one. I think what the majority of people are bugged about is that the facts of the contracts and percentages are not clear.
I'd say I have no idea myself and would leave that with Groves, Froch, and all others involved to work out...but it would be good if there was more clarity and transparency.

    You are quoting my point:

IBF Championships chairman Lindsey E Tucker said Froch had 90 days to fight again and that if he failed to do so, he would "probably" lose his IBF title.

In other words, if a bigger sanctioning fee could be made from a fight, with a proviso that the winner of such a bout agreed in principle to fight Groves sometime in the future; then there would be scope for the IBF to agree to this without the need to strip Froch.

The IBF maybe corrupt, but they are not stupid. The 'probably' in statement leaves plenty of wiggle room for all the parties concerned in Froch's future fights.

WTF are you slabbering about? Surely you must be trolling as I don't believe anyone could possibly be so stupid. Wont be a NC the IBF have already made their decision and their attempts to rectify the mistakes that were made is to order an immediate rematch. You can't change the past but you can recognise a boxer competing for your Title has been wronged and attempt to put it correct in future ( or within 90 days)

I commend the IBF as I though their was absolutely NO CHANCE of them ruling against the Ref that they appointed. Fair play.
