from the date yesterday they would have to fight by 23rd April, there is no way this is enough time for all concerned? does anyone know how strict these time scales are?

As long as they both sign to the fight they can get another date, I've seen that happen before. Froch for sure has to fight groves next thought.

The IBF would likely strip Froch if the fight didn't happen somewhere close to that timeframe- if there is a date free in early May then they'd probably allow the fight to go ahead.

That said, the IBF do seem to enforce rules rather strictly.

For this fight I think abit of leeway will be given tbh, if it happens.

Hearn can get Froch an extension from the IBF so that shouldn't be an excuse. The IBF will use common sense seeing as they stand to make a lot of money from this fight as well. I imagine money will be the problem for the fight not happening and not time.

This could be a football stadium fight. Why don't they both fight in say,March, and fill one at the end of July or early August?Wont happen though.

more to the point the fight contracts need signed by Feb 8th....that dont leave nearly enough time to sort the contracts in a fight this size ?

another get out of jail free card for Froch

even Ward has said Froch wants the easy pay day v Chavez and aint interested in fighting Ward or Groves

If thats the case we can forget it for the immediate future.I wish George would get a fight soon,Froch or no.By the way,is he running his own career now?If so that wouldn't appear to be ideal.

Contracts do NOT need to be signed by Feb. 8th. That is the deadline for them to end negotiations and come to an agreement. If they don't sign by then, it simply means that the fight goes to purse bids.

The Daily Star today reports that the fight will likely be on May 31st at either the Etihad, the Emirates, Old Trafford, Twickenham or... The City Ground.

I can't see Groves agreeing to a Nottingham based fight. If Hearn is sensible he'd tie this up quickly- the last thing he needs is for this to go to purse bids.
