I think the argument will be settled if You copied the film to You Tube. I have tried to get a copy of the Scott fight with no succes.

Here are stills from the kinescope of the fight:

This is the second round, Monzon Scott is on the defensive, countering occasionally.

Same, here at the bottom right you can see the round is almost over with 20 seconds left to go.

Here Scott in his corner being swarmed by officials between the second and third rounds.

Here you can see Scott has risen at the beginning of the third and is going to engage Monzon for the third round but the referee is stepping between them.

The camera view then changes and is very blurry but you can see there was a lot of confusion as to what was going on. Scott is standing there with his guard up trying to get around the ref to Monzon. The ref is holding Scott back. Monzon is standing in the center of the ring unsure of what is going on.

The camera then switches back and the two fighters are still waiting to fight.

Then the referee raises Monzon's hand and Scott is standing there questioning what is going on. The audience is booing.

The ring fills up with people and the official announcement is made. Monzon's hands are held up in victory but the crowd boos and Fraser Scott leaves the ring in disgust.

As you can see Scott clearly did not quit in his corner.

Thanks for posting the pictures. They are interesting.

You weren't actually at the fight though, right? Even if you were, it's not likely you were sitting so close to the corner that you could hear any conversation going on between Scott and the others.

It could be that Scott omitted in his book that after quitting in his corner, he felt a twinge of guilt, especially after Joe West's reaction, and jumped up and attempted to start the round. Weirder things have happened in fights. The ref, having heard Scott throw in the towel, would naturally end any further action. At that point, the crowd would boo because they would have no way of knowing the conversation that went on in Scott's corner. Scott, being confused and upset at his own actions by this time, made a show of being angry about the whole thing and then leaves the ring.

I'm not trying to criticize your thoughts or feelings but I don't know why Scott himself would state in his own words that he quit the fight and lied about the extent of his injury. In this case, I would be inclined to believe what the man wrote himself. If anyone has any information where Scott later refuted what he wrote in his book, that would be interesting to see.

Thats all conjecture. The bottom line is Scott didnt quit in his corner, regardless of what he said.

I got the book today. It is very well written. I wish someone could ask Scott to explain what really happened in the corner between round 2 and 3.

I've just finished Scott's book. I was so excited to get it a week ago but, after reading the final word and closing the book, I'm depressed as hell!
Now a ton of questions in my mind. Was Fraser just a wannabe? He looks damn good in the footage I've seen, but I'm sure other fighters have had to go thru the crap he troweled thru. Joe West seemed throughout a decent man who did care about him.
It sounds like he quit on his stool against Monzon in the book but the footage you guys show indicates otherwise?
I've got more questions now than before I read the book. :think
    Help!
