LMAO To all the people that said Golovkin had no defense

You obviously didn't watch the fight, Golovkin opened a lot of horrible cuts on Rosado, so when he hit Rosado, Rosado's blood splashed onto Golovkin's face, it wasn't his own blood.

His face swelled up a bit by the end of the fight but he wasn't "bleeding like a pig".

 

He was fighting adama!

True, when Golovkin was focusing on defense, Adama was swinging at air. Of course you will get touched if you keep moving forward. Yet, if he had engaged less and hadn't taken those few jabs, people would be complaining about Adama making it to the late rounds or to the final bell.

 

I don't think anybody should read too much into that fight. Adama was overmatched and knocked down early. Golovkin seemed to have stepped the pace down a little because he knew he was in no danger of losing this fight which is why he ate a few jabs too much.

However, his head movement has always been somewhat stagnant and it looked the same yesterday. This may or may not turn into a problem once he faces Mayweather/Lara/Ward/Froch calibre boxers. I can't see any of them not exploiting that.

i've watched the fight twice but not in slow-mo yet. i'll have to count Adama's jabs landed and subtract the ones he didn't get punched back for throwing it. i'm sure i'll only be using the fingers on one hand.

The problem with mayweather/Lara/Ward/Froch and many others, is that they can't match Golovkins offense, and thier defense isn't going to stop Golovkin from hurting them.

Golovkin is an offensive master that can force anyone into a firefight, the only way to keep him off you is to display a better offense, not many can do that.

 

I...seriously doubt that's the case. :blood You do realize that Macklin is about the best boxer he's got on his resume, right? I remember reading an article about Golovkin vs. Alvarez sparring which was arguably even with slight advantages for Golovkin - Alvarez isn't half the boxer Mayweather is.

 

Very perceptive that Boxed Ears should top that list since he's in fact the head of the ward. The chances of recovery are accordingly looking bright.

 

ggg is very tricky. he doenst load (mostly) on the first 2 punches (very rare on the first punch, unless he is going for the kill), so he is always ready to dodge, move out of the way of incoming punch/es.

his movements are subtle and economical.

as soon as he sees his opponent load up, he is already out of there or he has stepped forward and throw a weak punch and counter the incoming punch.

very savvy defense.

 

People who criticize GGG's defense are mainly just people trying to pick a flaw in his game to discredit him. You could do that for anyone. Pacquiao was a top p4p fighter and fighter of the decade and his defense wasn't amazing. Mayweather is the best fighter in the world and he has no power. Bradley and Ward are highly rated p4p and have no power. Wlad is the best HW, highly rated p4p and has a weak chin etc etc.

GGG gets hit but so do all boxers, even the defensive masters. You can be an offensive fighter and be very successful. GGG's defense is not bad at all for an offensive fighter. You can be a great fighter without having a great defense.

GGG has very good defense for a very aggressive fighter. He controls distance very well and only gets hit by glancing blows he knows he can take as long as he lands his.

You rarely see him get hit by a massive shot. he sees everything coming and is in position to fire bombs. People here who hae never set foot inside a boxing gym think a guy who does not shoulder roll or clinches has bad defense.

 

But did you see him land his at will too and rocking adama even dropping him? GGG is a very smart fighter. He didn't mind taking adama's as long as he landed his.
