More Bruno than Lewis is accurate if a little unfair. 1) Lennox was a great talent 2) Bruno was shite! Joshua has a truly sensational straight punching ability for a novice, lets call apples as apples here, he is a novice. By amateur standards or pro standards. For me he has a hell of a lot going for him right now, he does look upright and very 1-2 ish, but Wladimir Klitschko has dominated the HW division with a jab 1-2. He's looking good Joshua :good
my biggest worry is I can see him gassing quickly...a bit like Price did in Thompson II. We'll see though. I think he looks pretty mobile, with decent speed from a guy that's his size. He's got the right attitude if his interviews are anything to go by. I hope he does well.
its wrong to call bruno shite especially if you call lewis great...and then watch a repeat of their fight.
If you are 'shite' at boxing you won't even get the opportunity to fight for a regional title let alone a world title (and win it)
He definetly needs someone who can put together a proper training regime, I was shocked that he'd put on that half & stone. he does not need that brunoesque physique. He's a big feller & he's got good feet, but last night he looked robotic & muscle bound, no need for it, we all know it's all about...mobility, speed & timing. He needs to get stateside, get some pro's into his camp to shape him up proper. lean & mean, the last thing he needs is to do is go down that gym weight monster route.
Not too impressed with his skills so far. Great physical attributes though paticularly hand speed. The lack of advanced skills if that is the case will show up against better competition I suspect. It certainly did in the Olympic finals against top calibre opponents.
I checked out all of his fights (even the 4th I watched yesterday) and I'm pretty impressed with him so far. I can tell he has more skill than a lot of other contenders or prospects like Wilder for instance. Joshua has an excellent and solid looking 1-2 jab that surprised me and he can throw quick punches when he needs to. Like others have said it will be interesting to see how he takes a punch but I'm totally gonna keep an eye on this guy as I think he has a lot of potential. I also really like his attitude, for instance if you watch his post fight thoughts about the last fight, he mostly just critiques himself and said he didn't perform like he wanted to. I think he has a good head on his shoulders so I like to support guys like this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bxJkz4T_duQ
Way too early to tell, what he does need though is to face fighters who will make him do some rounds and fighting guys with different styles that require some IQ to figure out. I know thats all to come but it wont do much good knocking his next 3 out within 2 rounds each
Joshua wouldn't be getting this kind of attention had the judges done their job at the Olympics ......
Of course you can have an opinion but how you can or can't be sold on a fighter after 4 professional fights I dont know? Surely it's nowhere near the time to start evaluating his ability at world level! lol, or comparing to Lewis / Bruno. (although I can see the Bruno thing)
