If Lara is serious, that is impressive. I kind of questioned Lara when he was only calling out Canelo, but he wants big fights. I'm pretty sure he will want to call dibs on ring size though.

Would love to see this. I wouldn't criticize GGG for taking this fight at all. Lara is the best Jr. Middle IMO.

Despaigne had a win over GGG. However GGG had a couple wins over Despaigne. Good fights overall though.

The only Cubans to beat Golovkin were Despaigne who Golovkin beat twice to win their series and Damian Austin (doesn't sound like a very Cuban name) who won on countback in a 8-8 draw and Golovkin beat him later that same year at the World Cup to avenge it.

P.S. Lara lost his three fight series to Kazakh Sarsekbayev 2-1

 

I'm a big fan of both of these guys, would be a great fight! Lara is one of the ballsiest guys in boxing.

 

Decent fight if Lara can actually get a pass from GBP/ Espinoza - GGG ain't bailing on HBO and is the bigger name so it'd be 160, but it's a fight I'd be happy enough with.

AFAIK (and I could be wrong) el chicano is having a lttle fun with this one - GGG was never to my knowledge beaten 13 - 2 - certainly not in major competition.

I can't remember OTTOMH but it may have been a Cuban who beat him in an Athens Olympics test bout, but that's an unofficial fight and irrelevent for very obvious reasons.

 

El Chicano is having a little joke troll I believe. Still I'd be OK with the fight.

BTW who was it beat GGG at the Athens test event? All my fight videos, records and links recently got destroyed (along with some Hardware I was rather fond of) by the kids. For some reason I'm thinking Despaigne, but I really can't remember.

 

Golovkin is not about to fight Lara. Not that he can't beat Lara, but it's not a smart fight to take. Golovkin's tram has done a great job of matching him. I don't see that changing now.

 

Perhaps...though I can't help thinking there may not be quite the degee of calculation or control you're suggesting in his opponent matching. As far as I can see there's only one semi-decent option they've not taken in the top 20ish who stylistically might not showcase GGGs talents - Mora. Perhaps Korobov could be a little tricky too (and to my mind far more of a challenge) but he's spent so long in the shadows it's an awkward fight which would bring very few rewards.
