robinson was also a champ, having come of the greatest one punch ko in history when he flattened fullmer.

    Let's have your prediction sunshine

The point is, if people pick Hopkins they can't even bring up age. They know how old he is, but they clearly can't analyse how much he has aged. The enlightened already know he has, which is why we pick Joe Calzaghe to dominate

You don't sound so sure of the result. If you really think Hopkins is badly affected by the age shouldn't you be picking Joe? If you are picking Hopkins knowing this, then you'll have to face up to the fact you got it wrong instead of discrediting and covering all bases

Which is fair enough. I'm picking Joe, and personally won't be going crazy about the win because I KNOW Hopkins is well past it, its been evident in his recent fights

I will however be handing out some serious humble pie to certain members :yep

At age 44 my man Archie Moore was stripped of his title 1960 for dodging Johnson....and he was, the kid had learned....and won a Belt title the next year.
1962 Drew Willie Prastarino the same year he lost to Clay at 46.

Yes relfex has a lot to do with it, but Cal's 36 to hopkins 43 but what is most important is the reach.
    Hopkins is 6'1" 75"....Cal is 5' 11 1/2" and 73"...both are a bit short armed.....
1- 1/2" +2"= 3 1/2 inch total reach to height for Hopkins, which should make up for being older.
But Hopkins seems to lack a bit of pop lately.

What I find odd, is no one seems to ever mention reach, and total reach any more....that was in the Tale of the Tape...back when that measured body and not titles won.
Had I looked up Winky's height 5-11 and reach 72, i'd not been so suprprised at the result.

Calzaghe fans keep posting on this board how BHop's resume isn't "legendary" because Trinidad was above his PRIME weight, as was DLH, and Wright. Also, they claim that Tarver is overrated. Then, they claim BHop is overrated...

However, they will not allow someone to say that BHop is past his prime and 43 (as well as 15 lbs. above his PRIME weight), therefore if Calzaghe wins, it won't mean much....

See what I mean??? You can't have it both ways. If BHop's wins mean nothing, then if Calzaghe beats an "overrated" "above his prime weight" "past his prime" fighter, it also doesn't mean anything...

***This is another thread of mine, but it's not popular haha

I'm actually picking Calzaghe to win based on Hopkins' age. I would choose Hopkins to win if he is 8 years younger.

You said yourself that Calzaghe should completely embarrass Hopkins and stop him. Would you expect this to happen if Hopkins was at or near his best? Clearly, you don't think he is given your outlook on the fight. Hopkins is 43 and past his best, there's no denying this. I still think he can win, but obviously someone such as yourself should have no problem with this thread being that you think Hopkins is so past it that he's going to get completely dismantled and stopped.
