Froch was starting to walk down DG from the sixth round while still taking flush right hands which had no effect.
getting put on his arse in the 1st isn't. great power but it faded. still possibly enough for lesser, although harder to tag, chins. few would recover from the kd.
Froch walked right onto that and didn't see it coming. Froch didn't get put down in the 2nd or 3rd rounds etc because he saw punches coming, tucked his chin and didn't recklessly walk onto punches. Groves' power did fade a bit as he was clearly tired but most of his fights don't last long so we haven't seen if it is a trend or a one off. Even in the Froch fight we don't know if the ref hadn't stopped it whether Groves would have hurt Froch again.
Groves was stepping out when he caught Froch with that right hand. He walked Froch right on to the punch. Punching power is one thing, but being able to set up those power shots is where the skill is. I don't know if any other SMW gets off the canvas from that punch besides Froch...maybe Sakio Bika(maybe).
If he loses so what? He still would of earned good money and can always rebuild. I think he should go for it. He can certainly beat Froch.
Watched a video in the build up to the last fight (Behind the ropes), Groves says he drys out 10lbs the night before the weigh in. I think this is the reason why he tends to fade after 6 rounds. Look at Froch who makes the weight easily, he can go 100% for 12 rounds. This will be the same factor again!!
George groves is biggest problem is his stamina, weather he can improve this is questionable.. If he improves his stamina he will give any elite SMW a good fight.
:good couldn't agree more.. Groves stamina is shocking in the championship rounds anyone who believes that Groves was hearing the bell at the end of the round are seriously in denial..
If groves gets a lot more road work in and spar a tonnes of rounds one after the other non stop well past 12 to help improve his stamina as that is a big question mark atm. Skills are there but needs a gas tank. Do we know if hes a good trainer? Between fights does he stay in shape?
