Why were the 2 judges in Hopkins v Calzaghe foolish enough to gift Calzaghe a win?

People keep saying - calzaghe landed x amount of punches, he landed more than anyone on Bhop - that means nothing

You are just using compubox numbers and failing to realize that 90% of those strikes were ineffective or glancing blows. If I land 30 calzaghe slaps and bernard lands 5 hard shots - bernard wins the round

Compubox always says ridiculous stuff like figter A landed 40 punches in the round, when no one can count more than 15. Anyone who uses this as their reasoning only proves their own incompetence much like calzaghe proved his incompetence v the vastly superior hopkins.

And for those claiming bernar cheated. - don't forget the multiple rabbit punches calzaghe threw. Those were probably the most effective shots calzaghe had all fight

Bernard got robbed. Black and white. I don't know about England but in America it's black and white. Vegas don't know nothin. You don't know nothing. I KNOW EVERYTHING.

And if anyone believes the farce that calAghe hit bernard more than RJJ did in 1993, they are delusional. And copy pasting compubox doesn't prove calzaghe landed the most shots because compubox counts punches that miss as 5 significant strikes.

Watched this fight a few times and just cannot score it for Hopkins, Calzaghe won all ends up.. close but clear win as far as I'm concerned.

And that is why you are one of the many blind sheep that arbitrarily follows the herd, instead of thinking for thmselves

Because Hopkins did nothing for most of the fight. Calzaghe threw shots. Even if you don't think they were scoring shots, the judges could mistake them for scoring shots whereas the judges are not going to score shots for Hopkins if he didn't even throw them.

Like I said, this was 6 BLOODY YEARS AGO. I'm willing to bet the OP hadn't even developed pubes back then, judging by his way of arguing.

    FFS, let it go.

Hopkins should've been penalised for constantly holding, especially in the later rounds.

As should Calzaghe for his multiple rabbit punches. But he didn't. So both fighter's dirty tactics cancel out. Typical British fan with selective memory.

whilst I agree Hopkins boxed much better than flappi joe, if you stop fighting half way through the fight and just shell up and spoil, then you cant expect to win.

joe wins by default being the best loser., the barest of scrapes, a real embarrassing night for a guy who had just passed his prime (being Kessler victory)

I actually scored it 114-113 to Hopkins; a decision either way was always going to be razor thin, as neither fighter landed many effective punches.

Also, you are an utter moron. If you disagree you prove that fact beyond doubt.

I had Hopkins winning - I just found his spoiling really disappointing towards the end - it was like he got his 6/7 rounds and then just wanted to tie-up his way to a decision.

It was close but I had Calzaghe by 2 rounds.

Also Hopkins was let get away with murder that fight by the ref. Should have lost at least 1 point.
