Arthur was a better fighter. He never recovered from the Gomez fight though. If he had worked on defending left hooks and came prepared for the Gomez left hook he would have won that fight easily.
Alex was talented, but i wouldn't say he was a better fighter than Ricky. Arthur IMO spent too long at super-featherweight and it cost him dearly. I mean Arthur lost to Nick Cook and i don't mean to be disrespectful, but look what happened to Cook when he stepped up in class against Steve Luevano and Roman Martinez... He got blasted out of there, and i think the same would have happened to Arthur. Ricky was only a pup when he lost to Alex, but he has went from strength to strength and he could beat everyone who Arthur beat, but Arthur couldn't beat guys that Burns beat.
Don't bet on it! How many world title fights did alex win in comparison? Alex was a excellent fighter all the same but simply not better than Ricky
It depends how you look at their skill sets, you could say Arthur was better at some things but rickys will, heart and desire puts him far above
Alex Arthur was looking for love in the 10th round v nicky cook from wayne mcculloch!!...thats class:amenim pretty sure gogoladze whatever the fuk his name is will b a hall of famer alongside AAA:thumbsup
Arthur was a fruitcake - the Cook fight was a joke he wanted to be friends with Nicky and was playing about with him when he was clearly the better fighter and gave away his title...it really annoys me when he's sat there on sky and non of the fcukers ask him about it or his career. Getting back to the question I think in terms of boxing skill Alex was more talented then Ricky but as we know talent is only a small part of whats required at this level and Ricky was/Is the far superior total package
Look at Jorge Linares to see where talent alone will get you, Alex Arthur was massively hyped because of his talent and looked the goods. Arthur may very well have been the more talented boxer, but Ricky Burns has shown he is by far the more complete FIGHTER of the two
agree with billy , alex definately had more hype and was famous early in his career , but though he was a ''interim world champ'' cant think of any world class fighters he went in with , alex also looked a banger in his early days , and everybody loves to fall in love with them , whilst neglecting the obvious
