I'm sorry if this question has been brought up before. But can someone tell me why the Fab 4 is not the Fab 5? Why does the list that includes Leonard, Duran, Hearns, and Hagler, not include Benitez? From my understanding, a prime Benitez was talented enough and accomplished enough to be in that group. He fought all those guys accept for Hagler and gave a good account of himself in everyone of those fights. So why is he not typically linked with the other 4?
If I'm not mistaken Benitez was part of the fan 4 until being replaced by Hagler later on. I'm not certain of how this came about though.
His radar was working overtime in that fight. I don't know why Benitez is left out. He's certainly in the discussion often enough. Maybe because he's the only one who didn't fight Hagler. What is the origin of the term "Fab Four" applied to these guys anyway. Did it come from Kimball's book "Four Kings"?
Mr.Mayweather would have been a great addition ton the FAB 4. Woulda been the FAB 5 with him around Would have offered us fans so many more good fights
Because Benitez never fought Hagler whereas Duran, Leonard, Hearns and Hagler all fought each other. It's similar to the feather four or what could have been had Morales and Marquez fought each other but they never did. And if they do at this point it shouldn't even count. But that's why. Benitez cannot be included because he did not fight the other four.
Read somewhere that the term Fab Four was a reference borrowed from the Beatles(being the original Fab Four):conf
Benitez fought Leonard, Hearns and Duran before Hagler did. He was part of the original fan 4 but replaced by Hagler probably due to popularity.
