- he came in much heavier vs siri than in his first pro fight. suggests he wasn't in as good a shape. Perhaps that's why his workrate was so low , and he only started to come on strong in last couple rounds. Wrong tactics against a guy who starts slow. - i cant believe that , before the fight, his team didnt go over the scenario that he may need to foul back. salido even said before the fight he is gonna fight dirty. - siri was open for the uppercut all night long like a deer's eyes in the path of an oncoming train. - loma wasnt even countering when siri was throwing all that wild **** to the body and the head. marquez did when he fought siri and that limited salidos punch output. From the RBR mid-way through the fight:
the guy has talent, just needs another trainer other than his father, much like broner needs another trainer other than mike stafford
Yeah, someone like Freddy would improve him massively. However, I am not sure if he's going to do that.
Is he also managed by his father. Whoever made this fight should be fired. It was a very bad business decision.
But he's High Tech! I remember when Eric Lucas was the WBC SMW champ and he had all these trainers on his team for S&C, Diet, Psych. They were at a press conference for the Vinny Pazienza fight talking about it. A reporter turned asked Vinny if he had any special trainers on his team, to which Vinny shrugged his shoulders and said he's seeing a s*x therapist.
lol yea, its probably good to be "high tech" when it comes to conditioning but boxing strategy doesn't change as much. Look at Lewis' jab or Morales' for that matter. The default starting point of his left hand is a few inches from their chin, allowing them to reach the target point quicker. That's what a lot of fighters used to do.
No need to reinvent the wheel. Let's see how he bounces back and adjusts- he didn't get to be where he is by being rigid and inflexible in his approach.
The uppercuts were the big thing. Mikey Garcia got a knockdown using an uppercut when Salido was bending over / lunging. Thought Loma would do the same: proboxinganalysis.blogspot.com.au/2014/02/vasyl-lomachenko-vs-orlando-salido Also got a broken nose from the leading with the head / headbutts that Salido gets away with: proboxinganalysis.blogspot.com.au/2014/03/robbery-in-texas
Needs a new manager also. The fact that he was matched up with Saildo in his 2nd Pro fight is, weird. Very poor management decision exposing him so early to so much risk.
people think it was arum pushing him but its the other way around. top rank didnt want loma to fight salido but loma insisted.
