    You're a fud!
John Simpson would fight at middleweight if that was all that was offered, he's got bills to pay, and his trade is boxing.
What the OP is saying is that he deserves to be matched at his own weight, instead of being a name to build up Coyle and Murray.

His promoter is supposed to look after his fighters, not use them.

I've seen John Simpson box since he was a kid and he would fight anyone anytime!! I understand he has bills to pay and that boxing is how he does that but that should be where the team around him should be advising him, his coach, manager and family.

The fight on Saturday was silly matchmaking and could have resulted in John being seriously hurt from a much bigger opponent, he was lucky he was taken out with body shots but on another night he could have been taking heavy head shots from John Murray over the distance of the fight and that could have left him damaged.

Sometimes fighters need saved from themselves because no matter how good the purse was on Saturday I'm quite confident if John had been badly hurt in the fight the money wouldn't pay his bills forever. I might be wrong.

I will just be glad to see him do his fighting at his natural weight and would like to think in the future his team and family would have a better input when being offered silly fights and try making him see that after boxing he still has a long life to live.

Good point, well made. In all fairness getting beat means that your selling value decreases no matter what weight disadvantages were apparent.

It's ok saying Simpson needs to fight at featherweight, but he needs to get the opportunity first.
The thing is I cant see Hearn getting him that opportunity anytime soon because he never repaid him for the last favor he did by coming in as a last minute replacement against Tommy Coyle and saving Hearns shite show at the same time.

I mean Hearn wasn't even putting Simpson on the Burns card until the Simmons-Camacho fight fell through and John ONCE AGAIN helped Eddie out at the last minute. John Simpson should have bee one of the FIRST NAMES ON THE CARD AT FEATHERWEIGHT and i'm sure Hearn could have brought over one of his Cheap arse Argentinian berry pickers for him.

I expect Hearn to continue to exploit Simpson by putting him in Handicap mis-matches to his up and coming fighters, so i wont be surprised if Hearn offers John the Luke Campbell fight before anything and by that time John could be finished from all the beatings he took from bigger men, but at the end of the day it's up to John to decide if he wants to be used and abused?

What a shame as he is a great little fighter who deserves better.

It was a mismatch but to be honest Simpson fought the wrong fight...he could never fight fire with fire so why didnt he try and box smarter from a distance using his speed? In and out? He should never have been trying to trade blows..

Anyway money is what it comes down to.

It can be done fighting above in weights. Look at David Haye. Sadly thought Simpson just doesn't have the skills or power to fight at Light Weight.

It`s easy to be wise after the event, but some people thought Murray after his injury would be shot so they took the chance but of course Murray looked decent and the size differance was a big factor.Hearn wouldn`t of wanted it be as much as a mismatch and in hindsight it was a poor decision and it looked poor on tv

No, it was clear before the event that Simpson-Murray was a mis-match because if Tommy Coyle can flatten Simpson then what chance did he have against a big lightweight in John Murray.

I was there on saturday and it was quite painful to watch. I'm just glad that Murray went to Simpson's body because if he went head-hunting then he could have seriously hurt Simpson.

Deplorable mis-match where the consequences could have been costly to Simpsons health.

Actually, you are. If you want to say people are whining on Simmo's behalf, fine, but you are whining about them whining, making your whining the most trivial and picayune of all.

You've the most posts of anyone in this entire thread as of this moment, and for no purpose other than being negative and petulant.

I'm simply pointing out there are lots of other jobs out there. Nobody owes John a living. This thread gets started regularly. Perhaps if John stopped accepting these fights and went down a different route he might not be Matchroom's *****?

I know you have trouble with reading comprehension, so hopefully I've cleared it up for you.
