Sick of this talk of Burns v Crolla?
If and a big if as no need to, Ricky went domestic, for me Derry Mathews is the boy who deserves the fight.
Sadly he isnt on matchroom as it would be done.
He not only, Beat Crolla ko and then a draw, Derry is game and experienced and a champion.
Thats my 3 pence worth, thoughts? :deal

I agree with this actaully crolla is considered a golden boy now but why did he even really beat rees.

Im picking Murray to beat crolla

Great minds think a like. With you with the Murray shout also, who along with Crolla has ducked a fight with Mathews.
Crolla is a golden boy for no reason whatsoever other than being a Eddie Hearn love child

Billy Nelson, thoughts on this shout? I believe Derry has been up and sparred Ricky?
Who of the british boys deserves it? Derry for me obviously

Isn't Derry out for a few months with a hand injury?

Derry would have probably been in line for a World title shot had he not lost to Stephen Ormond, he's going to have to rebuild for the next couple of fights before he has a chance of a title shot again.

Problem is Derry's gone and signed with Queensbury and then in first fight then gone and lost to Ormond and lost by a wide margin IMO.

I know he done his hand in but i don't see Eddie going for this fight. Derry did what he felt was right and has family to feed but it could turn out to be a bad move especially in terms of timing.

Matthews has signed to fight richard commeny I think his 16-0 winning all by stoppage for derrys commonwealth title. Tough fight for derry. Also derry lost wide decesion to ormond who isn't really thought of highly in the current crop of lightweights also coyle dominated their fight til the ko. So can't see matthews v burns at all

TBH it would be a complete mis match, if he's thenext best lightweight in britain there isn't point in going domestically. I love watchign Derry fight, but domestic is his level. When he's been on the verge of stepping up to European level he's fallen short.

While Ricky Burns won a world title and beat about 8 genuine world level fighters out of his 10 title fights. I just don't see the point. It won't benefit eitheir man.....maybe apart from Derry getting a payday but thats it.

Derry is a very fine fighter but if he were honest he'd tell you it would be a step to far for him but up until he lost to Ormand I'd say he deserved a bigger fight than Anthony based on there two fights

I think Burns is a level or two above the rest of the British lightweights so they would represent comfortable enough fights for him. What I don't fully understand is why Burns is chasing tough fight after tough fight. Is he not now due an easier night just to get that winning feeling and the confidence that goes with it?

Is Ricky cashing in while he can?
