As much as people want to hate Floyd nobody can deny he did all his talking in the ring long before he ever started running around calling himself Money and playing the bad guy role. Broner on the other hand came out the gates like that and hasn't backed it up very well in the ring so far.

Ya'll must have forgot, but Roy Jones spent his spare time playing at rapping and basketball too when he should have been in the gym honing his skills and getting his fundamentals solid.

    +1.

Broner can bounce back and become a champ again, but what we saw is a classic case of a young fighter seeing where his idol is now without really comprehending everything it took to get there. Once Adrien started getting the paydays and attention, he fell in to the trap a lot of young fighters do of thinking they'd already gotten there.

Floyd had a legendary work ethic and drive to get to the level he's at today- that "natural" skill he shows took thousands upon thousands of hours of work to become "natural".

Floyd's still got that work ethic, but because that's not the side of Floyd that Broner (or the general public at large) sees, it's easy to fall into the trap of thinking it takes less to get to that level than it really does. Being born with some genuine natural talent only gives you a higher ceiling if you put in the time - there is no replacement for the 10,000+ hours a master like Floyd's put into his craft to be able to execute his acquired skills that naturally.

It's easy for young fighters to buy in to the "naturally gifted" trap because it's a way to justify them putting in less work on their ends.

Bottom line, there is no substitute for dedication to your craft. Floyd knows this. Hopkins knows this. Wlad knows this. Let's see if Broner learns it.

    :deal

you are correct He wasn't "Money" until way after he broke the PPV record and was already champion for 15 years.

I love how Broner started calling himself "MR HBO" right before he stopped fighting on HBO:rofl

At that point, RJJ already had wins over James Toney and Bernard Hopkins and already established himself in ATG conversations.

Broner is a ****ing idiot and is too stupid and immature to listen to anyone. He is mentally finished already and will either go back to fighting nobodies or will get destroyed again as soon as he fights someone good.

RJJ dominated the boxing world for 10+ years, beat HOF guys and was P4P king. Used basketball to get in shape during training camp. I agree to a certain extent that he should've worked more on defensive technique as he got older and his reflexes slowed down, but comparing RJJ to Broner is a disgrace.
