Canelo-Angulo, Which factor determines who wins the fight?

Discussion in 'World Boxing Forum' started by Anthony Birts, Mar 5, 2014.

  1. I think its power because one punch can change everything at any moment.

What do you think and why?

Boxing ability, defense and power all favor Canelo. Canelo will outbox Angulo, has better defense, and has the power to stop Angulo from coming forward. He'll either stop Angulo late by accumulation or win a wide decision.

How well Alvarez can take a punch will determine the outcome of this fight.

more like how well angulo takes canelos punch, we know angulo can hurt anyone at 154 and if canelo isnt able to hurt angulo hes in for a very long night (or short for that matter)canelo isnt a pure boxer so he wont be able to move all night like lara did and already as it is he has stamina problems. if he cant hurt angulo then angulo is gonna put a lot of pressure on canelo who then will tire and is gonna have to go toe to toe with el perro

It's how well Angulo can take Canelo's punch as huitzi indicated. If he can take that punch well enough to keep his usual style of fighting, the upset is very possible. Canelo has Angulo outclassed from a skills perspective, but is not particularly good defensively himself and obviously has his stamina issues. We also have no idea how well Canelo can take a shot from a solid 154 puncher like Angulo.

Even with both fighters coming off losses, this is the most interesting of the upcoming PPV fights. It promises to be the most entertaining on paper but in boxing that usually means ****. All kinds of possible scenarios for this fight!

Does Angulo really have that much power? He knocked Lara (who was substantially smaller) down 2 times with big shots but he got up from both and boxed well. Against Jorge Silva (who came up from welterweight) he couldn't hurt him but actually was a little hurt in the first round himself.
Also I keep seeing people say Canelo's defense isn't good. From what I can see he has great head movement and a very strong guard. Combined with his ability to see punches I thought he has a great defense. He's not come close to being hurt in his last 3 fights. Not beaten up at all.

Canelo is gonna hurt him to the body and weaken him, outbox him and possibly knock him out. While the fight will be intense, it should be successful outing for Canelo. That's why Angulo was chosen or I dare say picked like a cherry.

Now what's wrong with a cherry picking a cherry? I don't blame Canelo because after Angulo his ass is grass. He will have to start a bum of the month club.

Boxing ability, defense, both have power, but Alvarez' punches will get there first, he is faster.

I think the X Factor is Canelo's stamina. If he is only able to fight well for half of a round, every round, then he could be in trouble.

the one I think you didn't mention is Canelo's chin and how he handles being in a war of attrition, can he take sustained punishment, remember canelo was badly hurt by Jose Miguel Cotto
