I scored it for DeGale by one round, and this is from a biased Groves fan and DeGale hater.

I thought Degale did enough, just about. Both were shite, but Degale looked slightly more suited for the pro game, Groves was on the backfoot too much and looked amateurish at times.

Don't know how it would go down these days, Degale will be absolutely gutted if Groves ends up with the belts and goes on to land more big fights.

That will be a right kick in the balls considering how his career has gone.

    Exactly this.

I had Degale nicking it by a point mind you.

And at that moment in time he had the better raw materials to work with, I felt.

Don't think McDonnell is the best trainer for his attributes, and his promotional campaign has been a balls up from start to finish.

When I'm not trolling the blob I'm actually one of the most knowledgeable and most respected posters on the intertwebs. I got the Curtis Woodhouse troll of the year award last year, Yahoo's hardest **** on the internet 3 years in a row, and I'm favourite to get the covenanted ten men award sponsored by Old Spice next week.

    I'm fooking flying. :bbb

DeGale is going to seriously regret not switching out trainers and getting a fresh perspective on his game, I suspect. He's 27 or 28 now. It could pass him by a bit....

Groves won it fighting away no one had seen him before. Hes now come on leaps and bounds. I kinda got the feeling Degale was saving himself for a late round onslaught and never it never came. He did hurt Groves in the 9th but couldn't really make it count. Close fight I had it to Groves by a round

I kinda get the feeling super stardom already has passed Degale

he's this generations Witter - odd unfriendly style doesn't come across to well and isn't a draw - he still has time and if he can get a shot a Bika and win it then there will be some bigger fights out there but at the minute his biggest fight ends in defeat and then a lot of also rans..

agree with the trainer - time to move on his hasn't developed at all

Very close fight - I thought Degale would take it beforehand by a 8-4 sort of decision but I had Groves up by a round on the night.

It was a rare bit of excellent match making between 2 top prospects at the time. The fight came at the perfect time really. It was late enough in both their careers to mean something and early enough that a loss wouldn't derail them too much.

Degale's meandering career path after the fight has a lot more to do with his choice of trainer, promoter etc than any after effects of the loss to Groves.

Both will end up world champs at some point and we'll see Groves - Degale 2 with world straps on the line eventually :bbb
