What would have happened is that ANgulo would have taken even more heavy shots while offering next-to-nothing in return. He wasn't stalking so much as following Canelo around and eating shots.

Would it have been a "black eye for boxing" if Hunter stopped the fight (as he had threatened to do not long before Weeks did), or perhaps we would've been more happy watching Angulo taking an unnecessary beating, taking another couple of years off his career, so guys on the internet could call him a warrior?

The stoppage was a good one and, personally, I classify a fight as "great" when there's two evenly matched fighters going at it with a high skill level on display, not watching one guy get pummelled.

What the Ref did is what is called Professional discretion of which we are not accustomed to witnessing these past years!!!

no it would not have been cuz hunter his trainer an already let him know but I had real good seats an the full house agreed bad stoppage except those canelo gruppies an I am not those on internet who would call him a warrior just for finish fight cuz all those who enter ring are warriors to engage one on one combat so there for angulo already a warrior an he was stalking an coming on prior to that single uppercut that was not stop fight worthy period

    No.

People like you that would rather see a boxer become unable for the rest of their lives for a fight they are clearly losing are the black eye to boxing.

Think before you speak. If i was in weeks position i would have done exactly the same thing. Maybe not after 1 punch, sure, but in that round it was getting stopped.

The most dangerous fights can be when there's no blatantly obvious point to stop it and you end up seeing a fighter take a slow, methodical beating. Magomed was a terrible example of this as was Levander Johnson.

    No.

Hunter said he wall call the fight if he didn't turn it around. Canelo landed before he could change Hunters mind or the refs.

Get a grip man. Of course Angulo is a warrior, he took brutal shots for 10 rounds and was not in any real trouble the whole time. However, regardless of that, when a boxer accumulates punches they accumulate damage. Accumulating those shots for another 2 rounds was potentially dangerous to the boxers life. When that is the case the fight should always be stopped.

Of course you fans in the crowd arent going to like it, you paid good money to go watch. That does not make it a bad decision though.

    Weeks made a great call.
It will be even harder than even for Angulo to continue his career after taking two beatings like that in a row.
Some so-called fans are just idiots who want to see boxers die in the ring or sustain long beatings leading to brain damage. Those kind of idiots need to bytch slapped across the nose with a .45.

you get a grip he wall call what does that mean of course fans like me you don't know me angulo obviously knows himself aginst lara he was coherent enough to stop after hematoba an obviously by reaction to ref stop aginst canelo was coherent enough to be upset an deserved a shot to finish

You do not need to post another comment. You summarised exactly what type of boxing fan you are. Also, i understand you may speak another language but please make an effort to make your comments readable.

Angulo has too much heart and chin for his own good. It is going to effect him in the future if referee's like Weeks are not present. I feel sorry for any boxer that steps foot in the ring with a referee that has a mindset like yours.

    Exactly!

Angulo is the sort of fighter that has no quit and will stand there to go out on a shield. Not good for the overall sport of boxing to allow him to do so.

If a fighter is fighting back, most refs will let it go on.

In the case where a fighter is taking heavy leather thoughout a fight, I've seen many instances where a ref gives the fighter a warning inbetween rounds, "I'm stopping it if you dont fight back!"
I did'nt hear Weeks give that warning and Angulo though he was getting beaten, did fight more the two previous rounds than he had in the entire fight, so it was somewhat as a suprise that Weeks stopped it imo.

Not a travesty imo, far from it, but if I'm an all guts and little skill type of fighter. A Gatti or Margarito type thats dangerous to the very end, I'm sure to object to the commision if Tony Weeks would be assigned to referee one of my fights.
