All in all, a decent performance. Coming off a loss, going up in weight, headlining in his home city etc, Brudov is no mug. Look at who his 4 previous losses have come too... he's not an idiot. It was a tough fight for his first up at the weight, he needs to get settled in at CW with a few more fights. His shot selection was good tonight, when he did throw the jab it was snappy and his right hand showed why he picked up the name bomber. Needs to tidy up the defence, did get caught with one two many jabs. Got caught in the 7th by getting sloppy and in the end was able to recover - but that reverts back to my point that he needs to get more fights/settle in more at the weight before jumping in with the top boys. By the 9th he was back on it again and the shot to end it was a beauty.
Terrible was in serious trouble against a journeyman who is 5 years past his best, he will do nothing at CW any top 10 CW batters him talk of Huck lol be over in 5 rounds Bellew is European level nothing to do with weight.
Average, very very average. He got put on ***** street by a blown up LHW who was 4lbs lighter than him. Lets not let the KO at the end paper over the cracks, the guy is European level, plain and simple. And honestly, talking about a fight against Huck? Huck would rinse him like a fĂșcking plate in the dishwasher.
I thought he boxed well....difficult to gauge because not sure how good a bloke called Valerie !! whose best years were eight years ago had left he looked ok.I would like Tony to get a world title but I'm not confident.
Blown up LHW? Brudov is a career Cruiserweight and Afolabi is the only man to 'really' stop him in 45 fights. It was his first fight up at CW, he needs to bed into the weight.. see what it's all about. Agree - don't think he should go near Huck or Afolabi either.
Tony took what looked like a few stiff jabs and was on the back foot. Didn't he say if he wasn't fighting at world level it wasn't worth it? Time to find a new trade Tony.
Honestly, not bad. Compare it to David Haye's first appearance at heavyweight vs Monte Barrett . A similar opponent, both 37 and world title challengers multiple times. Haye went down a couple of times. Bellew KOd this guy and floored him twice AND didn't get floored unlike Haye. A good start :good
I think you're all too impetuous with your comments: it wasn't an outstanding performance but it was a competent performance. Reserve your judgements until he's completed a few more fights.
A little difficult given break-neck trajectory that's being spouted. They should respect the division and mature into it. Not trumpet a suicide mission in their 3rd fight.
Can't see Stevenson going up to CW. He only jumped up from SMW when an opening came up for a title shot at LHW.
Without the 7th Round scare it wasn't a bad performance. He's back to winning ways and can build on this win at the new weight. It's not like cruiser is overflowing with talent. Getting the KO was a big deal for Bellew. Will do his confidence a lot of good.
He boxed well tonight a bit of a sloppy seventh getting tagged with silly shots but overall looked well silly comments at the end regarding cleverly changing trainers glasses houses and stones spring to mind every time he's boxed under par he's changed trainer looked well tonight interesting to see how he go on with the elite in the division
Your name may say second to none, pity the same cant be said about your comments. How can a guy that has won 45 fights lost 4 fights v world class operators only be described as a journeyman? Except for 1 minute of lost concentration Tony put on a really good performance, showed good boxing skills and power in by far and away the largest increase of weights between any divisions. It would be like Lee Selby going from FW to Welterweight, some difference, Tony suits the weight well
