This is a great move by Froch and an even better move to let it be public knowledge for many reasons. If Froch tried to hide it and Groves found out he would go to town on it. He is also admitting his flaws and fixing them, basically stating that he can vastly improve on his last performance, but can Groves? Can Groves fix his chin, if Froch starts landing 3 rounds earlier can he live with it?
Having flaws is one thing, being able to fix them is another. Carl doesn't have the ability to adjust. That's a fact. Unless I am wrong, seeing a psychologist would be much like seeing your doctor, i.e patient/doctor confidentiality so why would he need to announce it? If anything he is even more susceptible now as it's a massive talking point when really he could have kept it quiet if he truly wanted too. Clearly his ego is that fragile he can't handle the idea of people finding out.
you mean like the whole england football team taking a shrink to brazil , that as been made public knowledge , thoughts
Slightly different given it's an entire team and as we all know the media attention to the daily lives of footballers is completely OTT.
Who knows if this is true, wouldn't suprise me if froch was putting this out there publicly in order to make groves think he was getting to him. I doubt frochs ego would ever truly let him believe he needed to see a sports psychologist.
so you think its totally different , and the squad will have individual sessions with the shrink http://www.boxingforum24.com/images/smilies/eusa_think.gif
Let Groves believe that you need help and are using a psychologist when in reality you have no intention or need to use one and let him batter on believing something when you know full well it aint happening to deflect attention! If i was Froch that sure would put a smile on my face seeing George make a fool of himself ! Comedy Gold ! 1-1 Let the games begin.
The confidentiality thing is true, but things do come out regardless. I disagree its going to be a massive talking point, probably hardly going to come up. As for not being able to adjust, probably not in the ring, but it could be a big advantage to him in the build up.
An athlete hiring a sports phsycologist is a non issue imo. He's not the first or last and nor is it a particularly unusual move considering the magnitude of the event.
