Hello, Can someone please explain to me how an amateur boxer can go to the qualification tournament for the Olympic Games ? What does a boxer have to do to go to the Olympics? And has there ever been a welterweight with very few fights gone to the Olympics? Is it possible to achieve this with approximately 20 amateur fights?
hello you have to be the best in country = win the nationals. Sometimes, when you are the best in country, you still dont get the spot in national team, thats the bad politics but its not happening in every country. then you get wildcard from aiba to participate in quali, thats also just a possibility. You have to establish yourself in minor regional tournamets to get that wildcard. it is possible to get it after 20 fights, but you have to be extraordinary talented amateur. for your question about welterweight going after few fights i dont have much info, but i think that never happened.
