Black listed for that lineal title in his own division because a DIVA holds the championship and wants to fight another shot DIVA, an even bigger DIVA at that instead of facing his no. 1 threat... And fans are okay with it... Oh well, at least brutally KOing Chavez via a body shot ought to raise his profile. Boxing sucks this year. Worst year I have seen yet. Not a single awesome fight signed and every excuse in the world for "X" not to fight "Y" in every division. LAME.:deal
It will only get worse from here on out as more political issues in boxing obstruct the chances of there being more highly touted bouts. Boxing is disappointing me once more. :|
What you're seeing is a trickle down from the Mayweather/Haymon era of most reward for least risk. The majority of fighters now want to take no risks and want to be rewarded huge for such. It's sad when a big fight happening is a "surprise". Everyone wants to see people putting their lives on the line get paid, but let's see them get paid fighting dangerous competition, not stuff where we already know the result to 90% of the time. Cotto V Martinez is a disgraceful fight, 3G will not get his shot at that lineal title. Yet Mayweather has fans for being the biggest instigator, along with his management, of this process that is killing boxing. If there's no interest in a sport, in the end nobody will get paid anything.
I agree. If they fix that useless fight, why wouldn't they fix and corrupt up big earning stuff? We can't trust anything. It's awful. Biggest thing people - Do not buy PPVs.
Wow, three months into the year following one of the best years in modern boxing history and already people are threatening to quit the sport and declare boxing dead? Tough crowd.
Boxing is dying so let's finish it off. STUPID! I have been around boxing for almost 3 and half decades and it will always have it's peaks and valleys. Boxers have always tried to make as much money as possible while they are in the sport. In the early days guys had to figh every months to put scraps on their tables. Until about the 80s early 90s fighters fought to become the champ because it meant more money. However, with the increase of tinkets out there it became harder to figure out who the champ was so star power became the most important factor in making the most money. Money is not the problem, at leAst not PPV money, it's the countless organizations all trying to get a piece of the pie. So if boxing fans want to improve the sport we must improve the business. We need clarity
Listen to me people. And mark my words. Cotto gets fed to Martinez to put him in the minds of casuals, a career high for beating a shot Cotto... Then Martinez, only have one fight left in contract will get fed to Golovkin. Martinez gets a lot of money, Golovkin not much but picks up the lineal title. Golovkin is made a star, can get some fights. I understand boxing politics, yall don't.
Martinez just came back from a series of injuries, injuries that threatened his career and his first fight back is Miguel Cotto. Not some careful warm-up fight. The only DIVAS here are you GGG cum-guzzlers so fixated on their favourite Good Boy that their pea-sized brains abandon all logic and reasoning. Cotto, even at 159, is a more dangerous opponent than GGG has ever faced and Sergio is using him as a warm up :hi:
