I hear what you are saying and it makes perfect albeit depressing sense. It also makes sense that Martinez would be desperate for more paydays. After all, gay people have expensive tastes/life styles.
Lara has 3 options if he realistically wants to fight Golovkin: 1.Leave Golden Boy 2.Become the WBA mandatory at 160lbs(WBA Interim title is currently vacant)to force purse bids 3.Win another one of the belts at 160 and hope HBO makes an exception for him to unify with Golovkin. Lara is fighting Ishe Smith. Boy, Lara really wants that GGG fight, huh?:rofl
Golovkin would knock Lara out cold................mismatch................the Chavez fight will be a war with Golovkin out boxing Chavez, probably winning by TKO or KO. Chavez will want his personal judges and referee of course, so Golovkin will have to stop Chavez and I think he will. Chavez only throws one punch at a time.......easy to hit.......
this would actually make sense if they 31 year old had actually ever beaten someone of noye. things will start to open up for him if he can even beat Jr, which i doubt.
No it often happens a guy moves up cause he's avoided in his weight class, for example Sergio at 154. You're right his marketing power will grow greatly when he bludgeons the much bigger Chavez
GGG is in for a LONG night with Jr.. I see Jr. manhandling GGG for 8 rounds and then stopping him :bbb Chavez Jr. will end GGG Hype
Too bad Golovkin's resume sucks. His best win is Macklin, who is the only top 5 MW he's fought so far. He's also 31, so he doesn't have a whole lot of time left. And don't give that "Everyone's ducking him" excuse, because both he and his management have said that he's willing to fight anyone from 154 to 168, and yet he chooses to stay at 160 and fight the Adamas and Ishidas of the world.
Sad as it is, it's most likely scenario...... Sergio, if he beats Cotto, can take Rubio in late fall...... Floyd, when he beats Madaina, can take Khan late fall. Then Sergio vs Floyd in May 2015 Or if Cotto wins vs Martinez, he can defend against Rubio or go straight for the Floyd cashout. Then Floyd can defend his MW title vs Rubio, go back down to WW and defend against Khan, he'll be free of his contract, cash out rich and undefeated. :-(
He's still ducked at MW though, this is the point of the thread, he may have to go to SMW to get big fights because the so called champions in the middleweight division simply refuse to fight him.
The fact is, Golovkin is too high risk, low reward for Martinez. Martinez is nearing the end of his career. Of course he's going to take a huge money fight against Cotto.
