Again, Showtime has a limited budget. And unless they go PPV, they're going to need showtime money. Stevenson fought 4 times in 2013, made good money. He will fight about 2 times this year under Haymon. Unless he gets a big Hopkins deal, how is he going to make more money. And outside of Hopkins, there's nobody he can fight at Showtime that can make him a lot of money. People throw that around "Haymon will make him more money" like it's automatic. Hell no. Money don't come out of thin air. You have to work for it and you need the right opponents.
kovalev will continue to look like a beast knocking out no hopers. meanwhile...stevenson will be fighting the best in the division. too bad kovalev didn't have the balls to fight bhop. smh.
Stevenson and Kovalev should be fighting each other in May. It's a fight that HBO would be willing to pay for, but Stevenson is fighting Fonfara instead. Beating Kovalev would give Stevenson another belt to bring to the table for a potential unification with Hopkins(the big money fight:rofl) You people can talk resumes or business sense or "gotta let the fight build" bull**** all you want. Bottom line is that Sergey Kovalev is dangerous as f*ck and Stevenson has no confidence in winning that fight.
showtime may have a limited budget...but stevenson stands to make more money with haymon because he isn't like the other blood suckers who milk their fighters dry.
Good thing Karo Murat's paperwork got sorted out so quickly after Kovalev was made IBF mandatory, huh?:hey Convenient that you left out the part where Showtime wouldn't televise BHop vs Kovalev.
By signing with Haymon, Stevenson is already giving 3-5% of his purse to Haymon. And who is sucking his money? HBO? His own promoter who he's still with? HBO is network that pay license fee for fights. If Stevenson don't fight, he doesn't get paid. If Stevenson don't fight good opponents, people won't care and Showtime won't have money to pay.
All of this is nice and all. Money and fortune is nice and all ... but what about GLORY? What about PASSION? What about that competitive fire to be the best? What about LEGACY? These guys aren't "fighters", they're business men. Which in other words means they're bitches. I could never imagine going to bed every night knowing that im a *****. That i'm afraid of a man and that i'm too weak to face that fear. "Hey, I might be a *****, but i'm a rich *****! HaHa!" Sorry but that just disgusts me. THAT attitude is what is ruining the sport. Nothing else.
Stevenson's had Hopkins on his mind for close to a year now. You guys just don't know the background story.
"Fighters" die broke, being laughed at and chastised by the same fans who supposedly 'loved' them for not 'handling their business'. When Joe Frazier was sleeping in a room above a closed, rundown gym, not a one of these 'GLORY' and 'PASSION' fans showed up in Philly to lift a fugging finger to help 'the champ'. 'Fans' jerking off to highlights of Iran Barkley knocking out Hearns while that man is homeless in the streets of the Bronx and Hearns is getting his possessions auctioned off. MEN feed and secure the financial futures of their families. 'Bitches' complain about them doing just that.
Isn't Hopkins vs Stevenson a bigger fight after Stevenson beats Kovalev? Hopkins v Stevenson with all the belts @175 and the lineal title on the line is the biggest fight. That's assuming Stevenson beats Kovalev, which I don't think he does. Stevenson doesn't seem very confident in his chances against Kovalev either. Way too much risk involved in that long money.
How the **** can you even utter this garbage when you've never fought a professional fight in your wimpy ass life, lmao???:nut Just in case you didn't know...fighters know what they are getting themselves into whether it's money or glory.
And then there are fighters who is not only rich, but they also attained glory. If a star prize fighter ends up broke or homeless, it's usually because fighters are not that bright to begin with and they mismanaged their money. Take Tyson for example, who has made $400 Million in his career. Or Holyfield? They buy stupid sh*t, throw money away like paper, have tons of child support and they complain about not having money. Boxing is about glory and legacy. A real fighter care about beating the best and that's why a lot of fans watch boxing over other sports. We like the competition, the skills, the risks, the knockouts and witnessing 2 great fighters fighting each other. Without it, boxing is nothing and there would be no reason to watch it.
