The fact that a weight drained, green as a cucumber, flatfooted, no stamina having kid whose only good win was a controversial victory over Trout, is Floyd's best win since DLH, just tells you how much of a shameless cherrypicker Floyd is
If this is the case why did 2,2mill tune in to see it? People all over were calling for the fight. if floyd chose to fight somebody else i guarantee you it'd been all over saying floyd is ducking him... is it floyds fault none of these guys are good enough to compete with him?
No **** if pbf hadn't fought him these same haters who say he was drained would say he ducked canelo. He really can't win with these types after every win an excuse.
He get's loads of Credit for beating Canelo. It was a great win. It's his best most meaningful win in years.
Mayweather gets plenty of credit. You just can't expect people that don't like him to have an objective opinion about him. The Canelo fight broke PPV revenue record and it helped him earn fighter of the year honors from The BWAA. So the media and the fans were really behind that fight. How much more credit for a fight do you need when it nets you $70MM+ and helps win you a FOY award?
You can't cry for Joy Sinclair when he puts himself in these situations. He didn't have to insist on the catchweight.:bart Same **** is going to happen with the Maidana fight. Sinclair claims he would fight the guy that wins his poll then turns around and fights the other guy.:-(
Floyd is the best ever. I don't say that to disrespect fighters from the past. I say it because he's THIRTY SEVEN, and still at the top of his game. Maybe the only fighter in the history of the sport with no holes in his game. Not one. His resume will get better with time. But as far as a skillset. Never a more complete fighter. Elite defense. Elite Offense. Elite footwork. Elite IQ, Elite Ring Generalship, Elite Stamina. Elite Speed. Good Chin. Good power. Elite reflexes. Elite quickness. Elite durability. Elite Counter Puncher. Elite Inside Game. Elite work ethic Plus, theres not a punch he can't throw. Never in the history has their been a fighter like that. Ever. You can bring up any fighter in the history of the sport, and I can point a hole in their fight game. Any one.
His signature win was against Corrales or DLH. Nelo was a quality win......on level with the Cotto win. Definitely a feather in his cap but it wasn't the best win of his career. Before the fight Nelo was green having only faced Trout as his most difficult test before Floyd. .....Nelo has a rack of pro fights but most of those wins were in MX against limited opposition meant to pad his record. Floyd is one of the best fighters this sport has ever produced. One of the best defensive boxers of all time. He's not an offensive force but he's a superb counter puncher. Floyd is gifted with a lot.of natural talents and athletic ability. He has maximized his potential in terms of how far he has taken his career through hard work, the right fights and perfecting his defensive style.
i think we all would have prefered 154 but given the fact floyd fighting at 154 is out of his natural weight class and he cant even make 154 on fight night vs canelo who came in at 172 v trout. it is kind of justified.. canelo offered 150 but floyd went with 152 (and he weighed in at 153 for trout) i knew as soon as a catchweight was announced win, lose or domination floyd was never going to get credit from the haters (but then again they would have just said canelo was green if it was 154)
Gee I wonder why? Might have something to do with all the Floyd fans believing every word that comes out of his mouth. You guys were circle Jerking when he fought Cotto "at his comfortable weight" and him calling Cotto undefeated because of a catch weight. Now you expect people to call this his best win? Floyds fan's are worse than the *******s used to be. You guys actually believe he can't be beat and buy every excuse he makes for not fighting someone. Oh and FYI, he avoided the TWO biggest paydays of his career... remember that he retired instead of rematching Oscar...A fight that was agreed to. Stay blind though.
Canelo is a new breed, you don't see Mexican fighters rolling punches he is good for boxing even though no matter who he beats he also will not get any credit.
Great win. Top 10 in Mayweather's career. Time will tell if it's top 5. The only caveat was I though Canelo looked like **** in that fight. The kid got stage fright on the biggest night of his life and was too timid to really go for it with all he had. Instead of being aggressive and trying to force the action he hedged his bets and tried to outbox him. You can beat Floyd Mayweather, but you can't outbox him.
Please tell me how he's the most complete ever yet has no knockout power. Virtually all his career defining fights have been won by decision. The only elite KOs on his resume are Hatton and Corrales.
