Ioka needs a bit of seasoning to be able to beat Gonzalez.

After Ioka beats Ruenroeng and has 1 or two more title defenses, I'd like to see this bout.

Will not happen. The Jap and his team walked away from a purse bid a year ago (yet were still able to keep their belt) and they're not going to risk him against someone who'd almost certainly take him to the cleaners.

I think in some modern circles that might be considered a bit rude, but don't quote me on that.

There was rumors that Yaegashi also was ducking Gonzalez earlier in the year, however the idea behind them fighting on the same card at weekend is to set up a future fight between the two.

Regarding Ioka, my guess would be they are building toward a wonderkid showdown between him and and Inoue (if he beats Adrian Hernandez which is obviously not a given).

Ioka is already not that far behind Roman Gonzalez at all (in terms of resume, not skill).

If you look at what both have done starting from when Ioka won his title against Oleydong (2010; I know that's bias in favor of Ioka, but I am just saying), then Ioka has the better resume than Roman. Roman's win over Niida though, still holds much value.

Everytime I think about it, honestly, I'm not even sure Roman has the better resume. Razor close...

    ---

Everything about Flyweight is and has been for a whole year, completely and totally epic. Best division in baxing.

    Flyweight is motherfcking deep.

Estrada came within a **** hair of beating Choclacito anb has improved since then. Sosa ran Yaegashi close and has the capability of making pretty much everyone else's life miserable, at least to some extent. Ruenroeng is no joke. Neither is Raveco. Or Segura, Marquez and Concepcion. Melindo's not a bad contender, and if Mthlane starts fighting regularly, he'll be in the mix, too.

Crazy depth, and a lot of them have been fighting one another, which sets this division apart from others. If we get a mini-tournament at the top to determine who the best really is in the division, we can safely label this as the division's latest Golden Age.

The whole freakin' top 20 of the division is mouthwatering.

I love so many of the guys that fight there... Best of 2014 baxing...

RG needs to give Estrada a rematch. Ioka and the "We Be Chinese" belt can wait

If you are going to make a cynical joke, at least be accurate so humor can follow.

Ioka doesn't have a WBC belt and hasn't for a couple years.

Upon unifying with Yaegashi at 105, Ioka dropped his WBC belt and kept his WBA. Although he didn't defend it, he used his titlist status to get a high ranking at 108 and became a WBA champ there through an interim title he got in his first fight since moving up being promoted, etc... He now fights Ruenrong for the 112 IBF title.

I'm sorry to **** on everyone's dreams but the reports from Japan are that Ioka will IMMEDIATELY vacate in an attempt to beat Koki Kameda to a 4th divisional title O_O

That's somewhat understandable, his whole career has been about making Japanese boxing history it seems. Still a shame. But, as others have said Flyweight is ****in stacked right now and there are still alot of great fights to be had, with Ioka or not.

IOKA has been Ducking Chocolatito all his pro career, Gonzales has been in the Hunt for Ioka ever since chocolatito's WBA Regular championship was Handed to Ioka instead of Alberto Rossel who has made like 5 defense of his WBA light flyweight Interim Championship..

Ioka will Duck Chocolatito yet again just Watch :bbb

he was Gifted his WBA light flyweight Championship belt, as Chocolatito left it vacan once he was promoted to WBA light flyweight SUPER Champion, But Alberto Rossel was/is still the WBA light flyweight Interim Champion
