Miranda is fighting Abraham - again:happy :happy

In team Palles recent press-release they seemed to know that Kessler-Miranda wouldnt happen.

The pressure on Team Palle to land a decent opponent is increasing. How pathetic it would be if Kessler next fight after all this **** would be fellow dane Mads Larsen! A fight HBO obviously wouldnt approve.

Therefore they announced that Kessler would happily fight whomever HBO wanted him to on the 21. of June.

Will HBO use this offer? If, to fight whom?

Team Kessler should call themselves VERY lucky.

Miranda's not just turned down the fight to challange old rival Athrur Abraham (I know, initially it was Kessler who walked away), but he turned down HBO as well leaving a free date for Kessler if everything goes well.

But whom he should fight? I guess Andrade is out of the picture as he's Bute's mandatory. Bute's out of the picture because of injury, a mandatory and the lack of interest of the US public (what a shame). Mundine is out fighting Soliman. Roy Jones is looking to fight Beyer.

How about Jermain Taylor? I know he's looking for a Jones fight but hell, jumping back on HBO as soon as June would be a good move IMO since Jones is going to fight the Hopkins-Calzaghe winner anyway.

If not Taylor, maybe Bika would be a good choice. Easy win for Mikkel but vs. a well known, very exciting name - that would be just good for HBO.

Other names: Fulgenicio Zuniga the great puncher
Allan Green (if he shows up lol)

Bika, Good one. Contender-audience-pleasing. But then again still not good enough after all this ****.

I was thinking Taylor or Winky in the realistic options department.

I agree Palle has acted mindnumbingly stupid in this whole affair. Now Kessler will be desperate for an opponent in June. Not exactly the best negotiation position to be in.

I am wondering could it be that Palle wants him fighting on HBO and not showtime?
And why would he want that?
I really cant see any other reason for this couse of events, other than incompetence on Palles part.

Someone buy Kessler out of his contract....PLEASE:fire

Id like to see Bika above all others. But is he out of the question because his wife is due around then? Im sure I read that somewhere.
Lacy fights in may, but hasnt got an opponant, so he should be an option. Though I got a feeling he wont take it at this stage.

Green is making all this noise about fighting Lacy, so obviously he is available.

Cant forget someone like Berrio, former champ and good fun to watch.
Who is the better name Berrio or Zuniga?
I reckon Jeff might go for someone more grounded and who will stay in front of him, like Sakio, Zuniga, Berrio or the like type of fighter.

So Green vs Kessler is my pick.

Which is basically him bitching out. Of course its financially viable, this guys makes millions fighting no name argies.

The only thing here is he gets a smaller piece of the pie because instead of having to pay Kessler $600k, he is going to have to pay him 7 figures in all likely hood. And because Kessler is mandatory, he would have to outbid him at the purse bid, possibly sending to price up way more.

Beating Kessler would give a ton more clout and lead to bigger fights, and therefore bigger money.
You gotta spend money to make money but Mundine is mostly in it for the quick, easy buck.

I would like to know what Taylor has done at 168 to deserve a shot at Kessler?? I read countless posts that since Miranda lost 2 time to MW champions and only fought 2 fights at 168 he didn't deserve to fight Kessler. JT has lost 2 fights consecutively to MW champion and not had 1 fight against true 168 fighter, but it's ok for him??

PS- I would LOVE to see the fight though.

Well if Kessler has got a deal with HBO, then finding a decent opponent shouldn't be a big problem. Zuniga, Green, Bika or Larsen are good options. As for the origional post I see nothing wrong in Kessler facing Larsen - Larsen is top10 in SMW and a good opponent - he would beat Miranda with ease :)

If Mundine drops the WBA-belt and TeamPalle/Kessler goes for that, then Häussler is sadly the most likely opponent - as he is the highest ranked avaliable opponent... sadly... HBO will proberbly not accept that, but it wouldn't be the first TV-company to be pissed on by TeamPalle ;)

DiBella said that it was a very likely matchup, but that Taylor would need atleast one fight before facing Kessler - so late 2008 early 2009 you might get your wish :)
