Burns didn't work part time for the money, he's a shy guy and it helped him to stay grounded. Billy will confirm this. As for the money you've got to remember he can't be a boxer all his life, at one stage he will have to work again even if it's media work to keep his bank account ticking over and 100k is a lot of money. The statement is obviously trying to get more people on board by saying young family, living wage etc etc instead of people sitting back and saying " oh well he's a big time boxer he can afford the hit "
What's written in the petition is a load of horlicks then by the sounds of things? Btw I could not fault your work with Burns when reading the fights and giving corner advice. Not that you may agree or take satisfaction from what I am about to say but I don't see Burns going on to better and brighter things with whoever he ends up teaming up with. How often does changing a trainer really work when it comes down to it.
Burns felt he needed a change, his performances recently seems to support that. Maybe his new trainers cv will be better than nelsons, maybe worse, but hopefully he will refreshed and re motivated by it. He may well look back and regret moving, or the complete opposite, but when a fighter really feels he needs to look for pastures new, nothing good or productive can come out of that trainer/fighter relationship.
Billy Nelson was an absolute inspiration in the corner for the Beltran fight when he gave Ricky the motivation and belief that he could finish 12 rounds with a broken jaw. Others would have thrown in the towel after 1 more round max and Ricky is going to miss a good man in the corner.
I think this is the biggest point.. Ricky was a average joe with ******. Hearn likes the hype and all this "believe the hype" and "say suhin" was not like the Ricky of his era with ******.. I have seen Ricky fight for years and seen him train close up.. His attitude had changed I think he has started believing his own hype.. He needs a change 100%.. Things were stale I don't believe that's down to Billy and more to Ricky changing. I hope he's clever enough to make the right choice with coaches.. I think he should relocate to the states.. I can only see a punt on Shane Mcguigan being better than his option with Billy... Booth very tactical. I think Billy knows Ricky better so no need.. All the other trainers bring nothing in comparison
Ah, the big thinkers are arriving.. This message is hidden because I Have Knowledg is yet another halfwit on your ignore list.
You've done a grand job Billy. I had a feeling Ricky would want to try another approach and good luck to him but also yourself you've been great together and can look back with fond memories.
Darren Barker aside i dont see anything Simms has achieved , Billy between Ricky and Scott there is 20odd world title fights aswell as other domestic belts , i dont see what simms brings to the table in all honesty
Yes he won.. Got a out of shape cricketer to win a pro boxing bout and get in very good shape.. Frampton looks amazing
