Heavyweight Top 30, early April 2014

Overall thats a pretty good list.

 

It's strange that the Ring Magazine has Odlanier Solis in top 10, then Thompson defeats Solis, and then Ring throws Solis out of top 10 and put Jennings in instead of Thompson. Also, Robert Helenius ranked #5 despite his inactivity is questionable as well.

Anyway, here's the top 20 current list in my opinion.

Sadly, Solis could be sooooo much higher. IDK if it's his relationship with Oner or the fact that he made $$$ so early into his career.

I think Takam is underrated, as is Gjerjaj.

Sam Peter will win the HW S8 tournament in June and beat 3 top 100 HWs en route. That will put him firmly back into the top 30. Hell, even if he loses in the final due to trouble with the format, he's still a top 30 HW.

Glaskov mustve been extremely rusty vs Scott. Or Scott performed far above his likely ability.
Scott was not bouncing around in that fight, but was planting and throwing. Vs Wilder and Chisora, he was all over the place before he got caught. Glaskov would KO either Wilder, Scott, or DelBoy if he's ever given the opportunity. He has looked great in his last 2 fights.

Chambers will likely climb that list back into the top 10 if he can become active again. 2-3 more tuneups this yr and a fight with a HW top 20 will prove he's still elite at HW. And Team Fury has him finally looking like a genuine HW. :think

 

And Helenius looks to have toned up some......he's hitting the bag with authority and seems to have straightened his promotional issues out.
A tuneup or two and he'll be fighting the top 30s once again until he wins his WBC or WBA minor title.:good

Due to inactivity the following are not ranked Wach, Helenius, Banks, and Chambers who just returned to heavyweight will likely make a return to the top 20 with a solid win in the coming months.

I also didn't rank Wilder as high as many due to his very poor resume and the controversial nature of his last 'win' over Scott.

 

I'm not counting Haye because of inactivity and statements that he may be retired. I'm counting Helenius, Chagaev, and Dimitrenko despite inactivity and or failure to beat any top 50 HW in years, but their rankings suffer until or unless they show they belong again. Perez, Jennings, and Takam are rated slightly too high by people, they haven't beaten any top 30 guys yet. I'll probably put the winner of Perez Jennings into my top 10 once it happens, though.
