    Klitschko: I'm not going to take Alex Leapai Easy

    Dr Steelhammer Wladimir Klitschko (61-3-0) is preparing to face the next challenger who will attempt to relieve him of his WBO, IBF, IBO and WBA world heavyweight titles in one fell swoop. If all goes according to plan for Alex "Lionheart" Leapai (30-4-3), he'll become the first Australian in over one hundred years to be crowned a unified world heavyweight champion.

    Klitschko has other ideas though and whilst some see Leapai as an easy night's work for the dominant Ukranian who hasn't lost in the ring for exactly 10 years to the day, Klitschko is cutting no corners, training as hard as ever for his heavy-handed adversary.

    "I've been beating people up for a living since I was fourteen, professionally and I'm not going to under-estimate or take Alex Leapai easy," explained Klitschko.

    Leapai earned the lucrative opportunity by beating highly rated Russian Denis Boytsov on points in Bamberg last November. That win - a final eliminator with the WBO - caught many experts by surprise but for once there was no controversy. Leapai deserved the win and now has a chance to make an even bigger name for himself in Oberhausen, Germany on the 26th April.

    Few people will give the Lionheart much more than a punchers chance, but it's fair to say that he does carry power in both hands. He's been advised by former world title challenger and fellow countryman Joe Bugner that he should smash Klitschko from the opening bell. It could be quite an entertaining couple of rounds if Leapai does throw caution to the wind, but you can be sure that the vastly more experienced Klitschko will have an answer for anything the challenger might try to surprise him with.

    On Tuesday the media were invited to attend an afternoon training session at Klitschko camp in the Austrian Alps and were witness to 8-rounds of sparring action. Sam ***ton, Joshua Tufte and Tony Harrison were all called upon to keep the champion sharp and ready to fight his 65th professional contest in just over two weeks time.

    Poor Alex, about 4 mins into this fight,hes gonna wish he was back in him forklift in Australia.

    Klitschko will lose this one no matter what he does. Does anyone realise the odds of beating a guy with the same given name twice in a row in a heavyweight world title fight? Almost astronomical, if it's a different guy.

    At least he was a legit fighter, with real credentials.

    I wasnt joking about Leapai being a forklift driver.

    Another safe play snoozer until Wlad has his overmatched opponent in the perfect position with the least risk to put him away. Expect about 4 or 5 rounds of hugging before this happens. I'd suggest setting an alarm clock if you actually care and want to see it. :dead

    legit fighters don't use a broken toe as an excuse for their **** poor performance in one of the biggest HW fights in recent years

    Arthur Abraham fighting with a broken jaw in 2 places for 8 rounds and still winning the fight vs Miranda, that's a real fighter :deal

    I understand your sceptisism about Leapai, I'm not thrilled about it either, but every champion in the past had one or two terrible defenses in his career

    Well Wlad has had a bunch in the past 3 years.

    Wach,Pianeta, Mormeck and now Leapai...is the HW division really that bad?

    Povetkin was a legit fight and Haye before that,and Haye wasnt even a real HW.

    The shallow nature of the current HW division is saddening

    all of those fights were complete mismatches, but who wanted the fight? Fury turned Wlad down multiple times, Price wasn't ready at the time (and rightly so), Povetkin, Pulev, Arreola, Mitchell all turned down Wlad's offer for a fight, he fought the highest ranked guys who agreed to fight him

    it's really sad that none of them wanted to fight Wlad, it's not his fault, was he supposed to rematch Chambers, Chagaev or fight TT for a third time? guys he completely dominated?

    I don't think it'll be that easy for Leapai with Klitschko's cheating but relative to how it'd be with a fighter with a real chin like Boytsov or Johnson, it might be easy that way, I guess.
