Am I the only one that thinks Alvarez vs Lara is a mega fight?

Had they taken the time to build the fight yes but as it sits now its being sold for cheap. Even if Lara wins he will not get the recognition he is looking for because he is unknown. If Canelo wins, he will get little credit because again Lara is unknown, and as far as the general public is concern its a fight he should win anyway.

This is what happens when networks under sales fights.

 

I don't think this is necessarily a megafight that distinction is usually reserved for fights between two HOF type stars/superstars this is a very big fight and might be the best fight made so far this year I think Alvarez takes the W here by late stoppage or decision should be a competitive fight

This is my #1 fight i wanted to see on my current wish list just ahead of Floyd/Pac and Sergio/GGG. I give Canelo credit for taking the fight but the catchweight thing is weak. I mean come on, he can make 155 but not 154? i wanted this to be a title fight. Oh well atleast theyre getting in the ring. Floyd/Manny need to cut the crap and get in the ring in sept of this year no more effing around.

Fully agree, to me this is easily a megafight and a fight I've been waiting for. However, two things could potentially ruin my interest in this fight and one could pretty much kill my interest altogether to the point where I'll definitely pass on watching this. What could ruin my interest is the fight being in Texas and what could kill my interest is Alvarez failing to make the catchweight.

 

This fight blows Mayweather-Maidana out of the water with ease.

 

It's a big fight but I reserve the expression "mega fight" for when two top ten elite of the decade type boxers square off. Mega fights were stuff like Pacquiao vs Marquez, Barrera vs Morales, Roy Jones Jr vs James Toney, Whitaker vs Chavez, etc. Donaire vs Rigondeaux might have been a mega fight, but it's too soon to tell and it wasn't heavily promoted as one. Also, big champion heavyweight fights like Tyson vs Lewis also qualify.

Pacquiao vs Mayweather would be a mega fight. Martinez vs GGG or Kovalev vs Stevenson would just be big important fights by comparison.

 

If Canelo choses wrong strategy like vs Floyd, Lara will beat him, this is close fight.

Mega fight-hardly.Canelo's last PPV did 350 k buys,and that was probably inflated.This will do marginally better.Lara is an unknown to casual fans and Canelo beaten easily by Mayweather.It is what it is,a good match up between two contenders ranked in the top 10.Interesting but hardly a blockbuster.

Alvarez - Lara isn't a Mega fight, but it is a very good match up and very interesting to give each of these potential stars and maybe help to propel them into Mega-star status.
