Horrible news, I wish the best for him and his family. Training for boxing is one of the toughest things for an athlete to do, If your mind isn't in the right place it becomes impossible and would affect him badly in the ring. Some things are more important than boxing and this is one of them.
For those people saying boxing should take his mind off it... his father was actually diagnosed a while back before the connelly fight in the interview afterwards he dedicates that performance to his father since then hes also boxed moises things are now catching up with him and his father is in hospital and Luke is there with him almost 24/7 he tried getting his head down and working towards this saturdays show but in the end he couldnt fully concentrate on boxing and 1 slip up could turn his career upside down definatly the right decision for him to concentrate on another bigger harder fight for him and his family right now
Muppet you are. I'd love to see the man behind the most ridiculous posts on the internet. Bet you're a right little goon
Fair play to him, family has to come first, second and third. If his mind ain't on the job, but he continues to be active anyway, this ain't ballet, he'd run a risk of being sloppy and get hurt, nobody wants to see that. Good to see that his priorities are in check and any halfway decent person will wish him and his family all the best during this time
Great post. Obviously we all have a bit of banter and say silly things on here time to time but this isnt the time nor place on this one so leave all the **** out
Although he's no spring chicken so long as he returns within the year it shouldn't physically effect him that much. He's been busy since he's turned pro and he can keep busy when he comes back.
It took 5 years to kill my dad.most of that time my head was up my arse.when he finally died it was a relief for all of us.i came out the other side feeling pretty pessimistic about modern day cancer treatment tbh. Good luck luke I dont know what stage ur at with it all but I wish u all the best. But what I would say is b strong for your family and dont let the cancer f***k with your career mate....
Best of luck to the lad and obv to his father. Whatever his choice has been i'm sure he's not taken the decision lightly. On another note, it's surprising to see some of the responses on this thread with regards to this topic. Lets not forget Frankie (Gavin) chose to carry on and keep fighting through this kind of family difficulty (Mother). Most agreed on here he was 'sub-par' throughout some of those fights and he was absolutely slated irrespective of the fact it was well known he had issues outside of the ring. Funny how despite the fact that Campbell's taken the opposite decision he's getting derided from some all the same. Strange place at times is old ESB
Great post Jonny. Like always with these things it's better for everyone if it's not drawn out. Hope Luke's dad can recover.
