GGG has a fan-friendly style.
He's a humble guy, and he he has a high KO rate.
No wonder that he has so many fans.

 

Then you didn't see the hype on guys like David Price or Lomachenko... Anyways, I do agree with you almost completely. As for the where the hype is on the guys you listed...

1. a. Mares is an epic dirty fighter. A lot of people don't like that and a lot of people hold preference as a major factor of how they discuss people.

1. b. Mares has had multiple debatable decisions. See the second sentence of 1. a. following every point below.

1. c. People ride with the moment. And Mares got knocked in the first round last time out.

2. a. Garcia has beaten three fighters with massive fan bases in Morales, Khan, and Matthysse.

2. b. On most peoples' scorecards, Garcia lost his last fight with Herrera.

3. Canelo, yeah, I don't know why people hate on Canelo and his deep resume as much as they do. The only non-biased reason, and I think it's time to move on now clearly, is that prior to 2013 he hadn't fought a top 5 rated opponent.

Bute fought some good fighters - Johnson, Andrade 2x, Bika, Miranda and "James Toney" in all fairness Bute did also fight a lot of stiffs but he did what he was supposed to do and finished them but Carl Froch ruined him worse than Calzaghe ruined Lacy's career

Berto was not a bad champion either having held onto the WBC strap against Collazo (just about) Forbes, Urango and Hernandez

These guys were never "elite" but they werent bums either.

The difference is that Golovkin has been genuinely chasing the top middleweights of the division and they want nothing to do with him and although I was a fan of Bute/Berto they never had the ability to finish a fight like GGG. now of course I may be proven wrong but I genuinely believe Golovkin can excell as a 160 fighter and who knows he might even take on the supermiddles aswell (Chavez isnt a good test in my eyes as he already lost once to Vera at 168 so not a real supermiddleweight)

Arum is cashing out on Chavez like he tried to do by setting up Pavlik/Ward

 

Well, you'd probably find that if you didn't start a new thread about him each and every day, people wouldn't talk about him so much.

 

All these recent hypes, GGG, Kovalev, Loma, Bute all have one thing in common.

Why doesn't Stevenson who is clearly the most skilled of them all receive as much hype?

Doesn't matter though, because if Hopkins wins tomorrow, we will get to see Hopkins-Stevenson, and then Stevenson will be at the top of the heap.

Before Stewart took Stevenson under his wing, he was just a average skilled brawler like GGG and Kovalev. :yep

 

So was Andy Lee. Don't know about Kovalev but a much cruder version of GGG beat Dirrell with headgear and big gloves, in a format Durrell should excel in with his talent and lack of heart

Yeah i remember a few years back when Berto was considered one of the most dangerous up and comers who everyone was saying the reincarnation of "Sugar Shane Mosley" .

Yeah I thought that was going too far .

I will say Berto is a solid tough dude , he can take an ass whipping and everything you throw at him and still keep coming at you . Theres no breaking down this dude mentally .

Even after Guerrero dropped him 2x and closed both his eyes shut , he still came back fighting and managed to close up Guerrero right eye .

I have yet to see a fighter make Berto quit even when things is not going his way .

I also think his last tko loss was a bad stoppage by the ref .
