Doesn't look all that special does it? Broner arguably lost to Paulie and Porter walked all over and right through him.

The Broner win was way overblown. Anyone who doubts this needs to ask themselves how they'd feel about Maidana facing Floyd without that win on his resume. Broner is a weak Welter. At 135 he can dominate and at 140 maybe he can hang with them...maybe.

it never was its the bait Mayweather is using to justify his Cherrypick. iTS A DAMN MISMATCH AND HE IS USING KAHN and Broner to justify this PPV to get numbers but its a bad mismatch and I will not be buying.

Mayweather vs. Maidana is a unification match between two top 10 WWs. It will be the highest or second highest grossing fight this year. You can nit pick and try to tear it down all you want, but it won't change anything.

At least a better opponent as Ortiz was. Wich might be Maidana's real biggest win.

Because Mayweather cares about belts right? He is the P4P best but he cares about a meaningless belt. Thats why he offered to give his belt up.
    "Belts don't define me".

Maidana is MAYBE number 10. Floyd, Bradley, Pac, Porter, Devon, Marquez are unquestionably better. I would add Khan...because he beat him, coin toss with Thurman, Guerrero ( who actually DID beat Katsidis) and the jury is still out on Kell.

Maidana is an ok opponent if you are on your way to the top...not at the top.

So should Floyd cancel Maidana and fight Shawn Porter instead? Is that what you want?

It doesn't matter if he cares about belts or not, they still mean something in the sport. Even with all these belts out there, it's still pretty difficult to win a major world title. Maidana was the best viable option out there. He's a good fighter, and he'll come to fight. He might get his ass kicked but he will come to fight.

Shawn Porter is much better that Maidana. Ask Devon Alexander

He shouldn' t have agreed to fight Maidana in the first place. Maidana hasn't beaten a top 15 Welter...but oh he beat Broner and is on a 4 fight win streak against guys that I bet even Mosleys old ass could beat.

It was only overblown if you overrated Broner. Maidana schooled him.

I wouldn't mind seeing Floyd-Porter somewhere in the future if Shawn continues to make the progress he is doing now

What about that Argentinian guy Abregu or whatever who Tim Bradley fought? I wouldn't be sutprised if he beat Maidana.

It's well known already that Mayweather-Maidana is a complete mismatch. However, Maidana is at least better than Guerrero and Ortiz resume-wise when Mayweather fought them. At least Maidana has Broner, ancient Morales by robbery, Ortiz, Lopez and Karrass on his resume. Both Ortiz and Guerrero's biggest wins leading up to fighting Mayweather were Berto.

Please note that the comparison I made above doesn't justify the fight being competitive in any way. It's just a poor comparison for yet another poor fight.

Thurman and Porter havent yet build up to FMJ level fight, they are about one step away.

Outside of TR stable guys, Maidana really was the best guy to fight. You might say thats sad, and yeah it probably is sad.. but WW is basically Porter, Thurman, FMJ, PAC, Bradley at this point. As far as elite level - or possible elite level - talents go. And I say possible, because Thurman and Porter look good but they still a couple fights away from cementing that spot at the top.

So.. if youve got to fight someone, which Floyd more or less does, may as well fight the guy who can punch who at least has a belt.

Broner is not the biggest win, from a resume standpoint. But you have to admit, watching that clown get smashed was... extremely entertaining. I could give two shizt about Floyd, but have no problem with a dude like Maidana getting a payday.

Maidana isn't nearly as good as they make him out to be.

Devon Alexander shut him down completely, ffs.
