I think he's better suited for 140 lbs.

He's a very short guy for WW at 5 "6 but he is quite powerful. I think they mentioned yesterday that Porter actually started his pro career around MW and went down to 147 lbs.

He definitely is a strong guy who can thrown punches in bunches. I would love to see him fight Thurman next, that would be a barnburner.

Well 3 of the top 147 lbers outside of FLoyd campaign on HBO/TR so that's not too pragmatic to assume he'd be "ducking" them when there's a cold war going on between the networks.

So what do you think of his win over Canelo ALvarez who was universally considered the # 1 JMW contender/titilist when he fought FLoyd? Sorry but in my eyes that win is a better one over anyone at 147 not named Pacman or Bradley.

He's good but beating a C-level 2 division paper champion bum like Malignaggi, who lost EVERY time he fought a semi-legit opponent, does not make you that good

Ok here is how it goes

    Mayweather
    Pacquioa
    Bradley
    Thurman
    Khan
    Maidana
    Porter
    Brook
    Broner.

Therefore I have Porter at number 7 , but still untested with a real 147 fighter.

I agree with everything you say, but if Floyd fights 6th, 7nth, and 8th best welterweights instead of 2,3, and 4 then perhaps someone else should be p4p #1.
Floyd is the best, and likely beats all of them, but he should not get to pick even easier fight, and retain his p4p status.
Floyd can beat Pac, and Porter, so that makes it ok to fight Khan, or Collazo just because since he can beat everyone he should take the safest road to victory?

No when your p4p #1 people expect risks, even when the highest risk is still relatively low.

All I'm saying is fight the best available...The absolute best fights available!

i think bradley can take porter
i think thurman and poter are 50/50
    garcia vs porter 50/50

he is a top welter but i dont have him at number 2. he's top 5 i think.

    Bradley would UD him.
Thurman would pose all sorts of problems against him.
    Pacquiao would completely outclass him.

He did a great job with Paulie, but let's not get carried away here people.

He looked pretty wild to me. He walked through an old Malinaggi but that doesn't say much.

yeah porter did what he was suppose to do. but he would not walk through thurman, or maidana or pacman punches like that. hell he beat devon but it was close, the kid can fight though dont get me wrong. reminds me of poor man braldey with power though.

It's difficult to tell how good Porter really is because Paulie can't punch hard enough to keep him off. If Porter fights another fighter who can punch hard, then it will be interesting........................perhaps Thurman?, but Thurman is not a proven fighter yet either. I thought Porter fought dirty, the referee should never have put up with the dirty fighting, although I think Porter would have won anyway, but it would have taken longer to stop him..............
