How would Quigg fare against Santa Cruz?

IMO salinas is very good. He would cause anyone at the weight problems bar rigo but people don't realise how good he is as no one really wants to fight him as he brings nothing to the table.

 

The thing is though - is he really?
Im torn about that to be honest.
On the one hand, I thought Salinas was very good against Quigg......but on the other hand I cant shake the feeling that Salinas, while tricky, SAlinas is a bit of a one-trick-pony.
He maximised his plusses against Quigg - his excellent jab and that akward cross-armed lean-back defence.
But take away his jab and what has he got???

I have a lingering worry and real concerns about Quiggs inability to deal with Salinas and his failure to solve the problems Salinas presented.

No shame in having some trouble with a slickster like Salinas but for a fighter with world-class aspirations maybe Quigg should have shown a better ability to deal with him - certainly after a few rounds.

Quigg really needs to put the Salinas affair to rest by rematching him and showing us that he can beat him clearly and decisively. (Thats IF he can!)

 

But he's beaten him once and in the process he learned a valuable lesson about showing too much respect. However if you look at salinas ameteur record it is very good and for quigg to work him out even if it took a while you have to give him credit he's learning and had virtually no amateur fights so someone like salinas will be the type of guy who causes him trouble. I watched frampton chase Chris Hughes round the ring for 6 rounds before he could deal with him it doesn't mean framptons no good it just means he's learning on the job. Plus you have to think that salinas in previous fights I'm guessing will have trained knowing he could get through with his ability whereas against quigg he had a full camp with the WBA belt on the line so I'm fairly certain no one else has faced as good a version of salinas. He won the salinas fight by at least a round or 2 regardless of the draw that was given you can't win every fight by a landslide

 

I think there is perception that people who would favour Frmampton to beat Quigg think that Quigg is over rated.
I don't think that's true at all. I would slightly favour Frampton myself but that doesn't mean I don't rate quigg and I'm pretty sure that most people rate them both.
I haven't met anyone who thinks Quigg is overrated!! The guy clearly is very strong and powerful at the weight - no doubt about it.

 

If Quigg v Frampton was made I would pay good money to watch but I would not bet heavy either way. They are both the real deal, proper world class. If Rigo wasn't around they could possibly be sharing the belts. I'm just stoked that they're both around together ate the same time so they can face off for real instead of in fantasy tournaments like Froch v Benn or Haye v Bruno.


I'd prefer it if they avoided each other until they both hit their peaks. Who knows, if the first fight is close or controversial then there could even be a trilogy.

As a fan... props to them both. Love it.

 

Your out totally agree,I rate both these lads don't think they should meet until they have got good belts each.......both seem like top notch world prospects.

 

Not sold on Quigg yet Geoffers, need to see more of him...from what I've seen Frampton is a level above. Would love to see them face each other though, both seem good lads too.

 

Both are the real deal and world class. So excited to see how both progress. No rush for them to meet just yet.

 

I may be in the minority here but I would back LCS should they meet.

Heres the simple answer concerning the Salinas fight. Joe Gallagher tried to be clever (ego ruling head) and overestimated Salinas, had Quigg been allowed to up his work rate earlier by his corner i think he`d have had Salinas out of there

 

If Quigg fights Martinez i would nt be surprised of a Benn-Watsonesque type of fight where Quigg lets kiko burn himself out and then strikes
