The Briggs-Vitali mismatch was about as bad as it gets.

The evil beating Vic Darchinyan gave little Victor Burgos was up there too. It was obvious from the midway point that something bad was lying it wait for Burgos if the fight continued for much longer. And sure enough, Burgos was taken out on a stretcher.

Nate Campbell-Ricky Quiles was like watching a never ending million car pile up on a free way. I can't believe Quiles survived that beating.

 

The worst ones produced deaths - not a pretty place to go.

But Vitali smashed Briggs round after agonizing round - brutal in the extreme.

The Kid Diamond/Campbell fight was just as bad. Death by a million looping right hands.

 

For both fighters, the Thrilla in Manila. Never saw anything like it before and haven't since.

one which never gets much attention is Thomas Hearns vs. Iran Barkley in 1992. 12 rounds and Hearns had a broken nose and hand, Barkley had a broken rib and cut on his head and his left hand might have been broken. he could barely walk.

 

Absent someone dying in the ring, I'd say hands down Benn-McClellan.

On a side note: Boom Boom Mancini is coming to Vancouver next week to debut his movie the fortunate son, which partially talks about the death of Duk Koo Kim, and how Kim's mother committed suicide less than a year later as did the referee Richard Green.

This is one reason I get pissed off with posters who think it's a joke to get KO'd and make comments about fighters having glass jaws. The fact is most fighters are warriors and are literally putting their lives on the line for our entertainment.

Never forget that.

Was thinking the same thing..The amount of punishment both buys took was insane

 

For me it was a three way tie. Wlad-Ibragimov, Wlad-Haye and Wlad Povetkin. All were incredibly brutal to watch.
