Foreman is actually among the more intelligent boxers, he is just narrow minded at times, and ridiculously biased. Him breaking the record for oldest to win a legitimate title meant a ton to him, I think he hated seeing his record get shattered. Keep in mind Foreman has a certain persona on screen, he is a salesman, and a preacher, a natural persuasive speaker. I've known multiple people who met him off camera, and have all said he was very dismissive, disinterested, and nothing like the happy go lucky guy he has portrayed later in life. Foreman is a very insecure individual in general, this is well known, Hopkins shattering his record hurt his self esteem apparently.

    LOL

I'll never forget the year I received my degree in Engineering a poll was conducted on the world's least trust worthy occupations. The poll asked people which occupation had the least trust worthy people.

Number 1 least trusted people was a tie between Used Car salesman and Lawyers. Foreman reminds me of a used car salesman. :yep
Baptist preachers should somewhere in the top 10.

Well from all testimonies from those who have met him, his persona on camera is completely fictitious, I believe that. Sure people change naturally, but to go from a guy who is antisocial, always peeved, and hostile, to this big teddy bear; well it raises suspicion, that's for sure. It seems far too drastic to be legitimate, that I'm positive of. It's simple, before Foreman was filthy rich off his grills, he was actually not in a great financial situation, that was his main motivation to return. He said it was to break the record, but that was really just justification, it is well documented he was running low on funds. He figured out he needed to be charismatic to sell his fights and get people watching, get asses in seats, which translates to dollars. Once the grill came along, he saw the enormous potential for profit, but knew he needed to be personable to pull it off. Thus the "big teddy bear" role was invented, which he perfected over the years, but it is all an act. Seriously, talk to anyone who met him in real life, he is not a nice guy. I personally know three people who have met him, they all share the same sentiment, you'll find it is a universal opinion to all those who met the man. There were times during his broadcast where you can tell he was pugnacious and hostile, especially when Larry Merchant and him got into it. I remember he insinuated in a rather obvious manner to one of them to shut their mouth, before he did it for them.

He is certainly a man I'd never want to **** off, I'll say that much.

I don't know how Hopkins can beat Stevenson, it would be an upset if he did. Kovalev would destroy Hopkins and both Hopkins and Stevenson know it.........

Foreman is right. But Hopkins doesn't have the fame George had for some reason.

Foreman created a more media friendly persona which led him being invited onto chat shows which gave him more exposure to casual fans than Hopkins ever has.

I'm a huge Hopkins fan but when interviewed he has a tendency to go on some rant about one thing or another, he'd be horrible to interview on a chat show, lacks the self depreciating humour Foreman had that warmed him to the general public.

Foreman developed a sense of humor and actually grew away from the 'chip on the shoulder' routine so many folks carry with them. It was a courageous move on Georges part and I laud him for it. It opened up some many avenues for him. Hopkins still has the chip, and a racial view of the world. Until he leaves that stuff behind he will never accomplish much outside of his boxing career.

The Foreman grille was a once in a lifetime gimmick.

As long as GBP is solvent, Hopkins will be making money as a director.

He's not literally telling him to sell grills. He's pretty much telling him to retire and make money doing anything else.

With regard to Frazier he did. Ali showed up at his house with NOI gunmen. That wasn't hype for the newspapers.

Frazier was everything the NOI despised, dark skinned, Christian and working class and Ali was completely brainwashed into their crap.

Even when he retires and if GBP is no more, I have a strong feeling that he will be closely involved with Haymon/Schaefer in the promotions biz.
When he retires watch the networks vie for him as a commentator, and he'll be 300% better at commentating than fat George Foreman. :yep

Hopkins would make for a hell of a trainer.
