We already know he is after Jcc jr... Is Mikey next? Mikey was INVITED to see Mayweather train by TMT & gladly accepted.. If Al can pull it off he is truely a boss...
You aren't acknowledging the elephant in the room. The only reason those guys are out exploring offers, is because they are being robbed blind by Arum, the same thing he has done to all his fighters. Oscar and Floyd are two modern, prime examples of what a parasite he is, he cheated and shortchanged both of them. As soon as they got out from underneath him, they start making the big bucks, almost instantly. Chavez recently said Arum was trying to do him dirty, and make him sign extensions to get him a good fight, he is tired of the bull****. Don King eventually got so dirty that he pretty much ran himself out of boxing, he was the most corrupt in a sport that is filled with notorious thugs. Arum is having the same thing happen, he has robbed so many people, most boxers want nothing to do with him. I personally just wish the old POS would croak, he is an unscrupulous, abominable human being.
Eat a dick El Chicka. Al Haymon is getting fighters the fights they want for the money they deserve and negotiate. The Mexicans over there at TR saw that Maidana check and they ready jump ship. Al Haymon is playing chess with the boxing world and staying behind the scene.:hat
It's more like Bob Arum is running all his top fighters away to TR's competition. When fighters hear about all the good 411 on Haymon, naturallythey want to be a part of it. Bob Arum is the old obsolete bait and switch con-man model while Al Haymon is the new boxer-as-micro-businessmen model.
it is the way it has always been. fighters go with what they think is the best deal. look how many flocked to Don King, thinking he would give them a good honest break...look how many of those guys are either penniless, physically damaged, or both..
We'll have to wait and see I guess, but this is what I suspect will happen in the long term. It's seems to be the case that Haymon is watching TR (and smaller promoters) to see which guys are starting to make waves and nearing the end of contracts then comes in with a bigger offer to take them away. In this way He, GBP and SHO don't have to waste money building guys up only to see them fail before they reach the top level. It's also probably no coincidence that they're targeting guys who are set to be involved in marquee fights on HBO - Stevenson and now Jr Simultaneously harming HBOs interests and gaining stars of their own. I don't like it but as many posters have said - that's business. If SHO / GBP are going to use a guy like Haymon to effectively flout the Ali act without consequence perhaps HBO should use similar tactics. As I've mentioned before, if SHO / GBP / Haymon do manage to establish firm control over the sport in the US we'll get to see what they're really about.... until then 'getting the fighters the best deals' can easily be seen as a short term strategy in order to eliminate the major competition. For me personally it's a pain in the ass, cos the top fights I want aren't happening now - but in the longer term I don't give a damn who controls the sport, except I have a huge distrust of monopoly in any industry - and seeing either side of the cold war 'win' would IMO likely have a negative impact.
