Yeah was Jones lucky to keep the belt last time, Gustafsson beat the living crap out of him and gave him a boxing lesson. I don't see Glover winning tbh, but yes he has a shot...
I can't make up my mind here. Jones is definitely the quicker one, but Gus showed that Jones isn't that quick in his boxing at all. I really think Jones was shocked at how quick his hands AREN'T! Here are the things I'm sure of. With Jones: Jones is the more dynamic striker Jones is the more creative striker Jones is longer, and will be able to use his jab and that kick to the knee, and high round houses to keep him away With Tex: Tex is the more technical boxer Tex has MUCH more power in his hands Tex is the strongest guy Jones has ever faced. As far as the ground goes....I have no idea.
yes for sure Teix has a chance. he is a up and comer that has been performing well climbing up the ranks. I think Gus is a great fighter but I am not convinced at this point he and Jones are head and shoulders above all the rest. I think Jones got over rated from having such a great run to the top and once he got to the top. His wins over Shogun and Machida etc created a type of AURA of Jones being unbeatable. I think Jones is excellent, no doubt. I simply don't think he has proved to the sport that he is unbeatable at this point in time. Mind you, the last few rounds against Gus, JJ showed a rare intangible by adapting to Gus and winning the final rounds. Maybe that took JJ to his next level for all we know yet. Regardless, to me at this point yes Tex does have a chance.
Teixerra is awkward and kind of lumbering, and even though he's immaculately conditioned, he always looks like he's fighting gassed. I think Jones' offensive creativity will see him through here.
If Glover wants to win he needs to take the fight to Jones, can't stand out of the outside and get picked apart. Think he can make it a fight if he gets inside and can avoid the TD, either way I think that's what he will be coming to do, win or lose... He's not lying down like previous opponents have, he's coming to fight :deal
Whether Glover wins or lose though, I look forward to watching him fight for years. He's so fun to watch.
Bader was getting the better of him until he went in for the finish and got caught. Unless that was a really bad off night for Glover, I don't give him more than a punchers chance.
UFC 172 is going to be a great card. I've been following Jones for a while now, I think he's gonna take it. Watched the last fight in September on ETVshare and it was awesome.
I've been using ETVshare too. Jones barely made it through that last one though... Teixeira's got him on this one.
