Leapai - badly trained or badly managed?

Come on , We all knew this would happen . Everyone on here has seen Alex's fights against Johnson and Walker and knew how limited Alex really is against virtually anyone outside the lucky country . The biggest mystery is how Boystov managed to lose against Alex - must have taken him way too easy. Way too much focus pad work by boxing trainers in boxing gyms these days instead of hard flat out sparring sessions and old fashioned footwork conditioning . Good luck to Alex though after taxes , trainers cut and other ex's should get a good 400,000 dollar house in the southern Brissy suburbs out of this fight which is more than he could have ever dreamed off.

 

i think i might have said prior to the fight that Leapia's biggest chance was to attack Glitsco quickly......but, then i saw Glitsco waiting calmly for Leapia's attack, and when Leapia attacked, Glitsco easily threw his long left jab blockbuster, or countered Leapia with his jab.....

If you haven't fought a long legged bloke before, then it is easy to believe that you could put together a strategy to beat him.....but it is so, so difficult to bring that strategy into being when you do fight the tall, longlegged, long reach fighter, who boxes smartly and brilliantly.

Another strategy that could have been practised by Leapia would have been to get on the back foot, and retreat (run) and duck and weave away on the backfoot, and to let Glitsco chase him.....these days, this strategy gets the immediate boo from the crowd, who do not want to see brilliant footwork and ducking and weaving; today's crowd is only interested in blunt knockouts.....I think though that if this stategy had have been entered into by Leapia, Glitsco would not have run out of breath chasing him, and would have cornered him and smashed him then.

I felt that this fight was certainly not one that you would use to market the sweet science. It was a cruel blunt show, which in many ways demonstrated to fighters/boxers that you need to be much, much closer to the physical height, reach and skills of a massively built and skilled world champion, if you are intending to pull off a win.

Leapai is so badly managed that he just fought for the worlds heavy title.
This fight has set up a big local contest with Lucas Brown and that will pay big money if it happens.

Browne will beat Leapai, he was poorly trained, I guess turning up was first and main priority. If anything Browne does not need Leapai at this stage, he should chase the British fighters for better money

 

he just does not have the ability to beat wlad, it doesn't matter who trained him, He could have had eddie futch for his whole career and he would never beat wlad. Wlad is on a different level.

 

The WBO ratings are a joke Leapai had no business in the ring with Wlad, disgraceful mismatch.

 

he beat the Russian who was 32-0 for the title shot, I agree in away, Alex maybe should have been in with another top guy for the chance to fight for the title. eg, Del boy,Fury, Jennings of this world. it is done now. alex got smashed, but gave it a go

 

Out classed by a 100 miles basically did nothing, but did earn his shot by beating the no 1 contender who happened to be a fraud (image what Wlad would of done to boystov), how many fighters have a decent career and never get a shot ? ..good on him for getting his shot and hope he bounces back:good...

 

Jesus Christ , Brownes a bit overated on here too . Hes just as limited as Alex , sure hes tough and likeable but you could name 100 northern hempishere journeymen that would punch 10 shades of s--- out of him.

 

Yeh prob, but he is the highest ranked heavyweight we have besides leapi ...sad yes I know, the fact he is still undefeated and just won the commonwealth title gives him more hype, prob should land a biggish fight soon names mentioned fury, chisora, wilder ..

 

If he cleared $700k in his account after expenses, tax and other incidentals I'd be very surprised
