This maybe doesn't deserve its own thread , but I always liked welters who were 5 10 minimum , skinny looking with a long fast jab. Of all the current welters Floyd is probably the biggest overall due to height and reach. I know they don't come along every week, but nobody is even close in size to a Trinidad, Forrest or Oscar. its a shame as I cannot currently say any welter is big for the weight. thoughts?
no thoughts you make a very good point ,id make them all look small at 5'10 which isnt exactly huge but still the same height as benitez, leonard, de la hoya, trinidad or near enough. 5'6-5'8 isnt a big human, although alot of them have either grown through the weights, and have manfactured muscles. and none of them can go up!! to middle and lhw.
Thats because a lot of them have moved up to chase the Pacquiao/Mayweather fight or just because 140 had to much talent before. Bradley, Maidana, Ortiz, Alexander, Malgnaggi, Khan, all of them moved up after a defeat or to go after pac or floyd.
ironically back then, they were actual 147lbers.... with day of weigh ins.... now.... **** mathysse came in as a middleweight yesterday..... mathysse weighed more on the night than bradley/pacquiao and mayweather did for their last fights and mayweather fought at 152lbs.
Modern fighters have more muscular builds. The same guys who used to be 5'10 and fighting at welter are now up at 154
