briggs to me is an under achiever.
He is an ambush fighter with poor stamina.
Look at the Lewis fight. He tries to jump in with punches out of nowhere almost.
He does have some counter punching ability, but with no head movement to speak of.
I'm afraid against Wilder he would be KO'd.
Wilder is very good at making short work of guys who stand there with their left hand down, and no head movement.
Briggs has power, but his style is backfoot when he's resting, and you can't fight well off the back foot with no head movement.
I'd give Briggs a shot to KO wilder too, but only on a lucky shot.
    This is not 90's Briggs.

What? I'd consider the Briggs to be an overachiever if anything.... He was lucky to ever pick up a strap. Robbed Foreman, got schooled by Liakhovich before one of the biggest chokes in heavyweight history in the dying seconds of the fight. He's a guy who never should have won a title, but he did twice.....

Briggs would steamroll Lemonmerangpai, he's just a class above, even at his age.

Foreman was for the linear title, and it was what the ibo?
    Briggs got a gift.
The Liakhovich fight was for the wbo which was still somewhat lightly regarded then, and was not really considered the "man" at any point in his career.

Briggs in my opinion had world class talent, but when he left Atlas he changed his style. He was a hands up guy up on his front foot most of the time, and changed his style to suit himself, and it was a bad idea IMO.
He instantly began carrying the left low, and trying to be a boxer who fought off the back foot when he need a break.
The style Atlas taught him would have made him more competitive against the divisions elite, but they split after his upset loss to Wilson in what was supposed to be his showcase on HBO.
Had he stayed with teddy, and kept his weight between 225, and 230 he would have been a handful.
His dreadful head movement would have always been his undoing however.

In short yes, lucky to pick up strap, but with Atlas taght style he would have been a bit better.
So underachiever by virtue of abandoning a style that could have made him more competitive than he was.

A Leapai/Briggs fight in Australia would probably do well..............

I'd take Leapi in that one.

Briggs will beat him. Leapai offers nothing special even against an old shot Briggs. I expect Briggs to look bad early but eventually catch and knock Leapai out.
