Just how good was Antonio Margarito?

Guy was a monster. Like others have said his chin, heart, conditioning, and constant pressure were world class. He wasn't a big puncher, and he knew it which is why I think he loaded the gloves. But he was great to watch. Nowhere near a great fighter but I'd still remember him over greats because his style was awesome.

Not true.
He gave Cotto no room to move from the get-go in each fight. He was in front of him constantly.
Loaded gloves don't improve movement.
You had to have high volume to keep Margo at bay because he cut you down.
Williams had the blueprint.

 

Margarito is a bum level boxer, the guy has one win worth mentioning and he probably had to cheat to get it. This idea that he's was this monster is dumbfounding, he's biggest claim to fame is asking Mayweather for a fight then losing directly after or maybe it was his impressive 6 month run as a real champ

 

With plaster = wrecking machine

Without plaster = journeyman level

 

Good enough to make Floyd Mayweather go on an extended retirement vacation!

 

Margarito was a bum through and through. Those saying he still workrate, footwork etc. and that plaster doesn't give you that. It's not entirely true. Let's take foot work, his entire game was to get that plaster to touch you and no matter where he knew you would react to it which allowed him to keep advancing on while you were preoccupied with getting away from the plaster. Work rate, again, weather whatever early storm and just make sure to touch them with the plaster, you won't be getting hit with the same volume or as significant for long and you will be landing more and more as your opponent becomes more defensive.

It is complete domino effect of positive results for the wearer which really you could go on and on about, like the fact he didn't have throw as hard leaving him more energy etc. And, negative results for the victim as their fear of getting hit with plaster affects every single decision they have to make. The only thing that guy had was chin, he never would've been anything without plaster. People need to understand the domino effects that occur after tipping the scale strongly in your favor by cheating.

 

He was trash. He was a limited fighter who had to load his gloves to be average to beat smaller men. After his daddy Mosley exposed his cheating ass he never had a meaningful win again.

 

Go into retirement for a guy who's a stylistic wet dream for him? You don't even believe that **** but then again you probably do. Just so bitter. How many slow come forward Mexicans does PBF have to beat before you wise up?:deal
