You've missed my point, I'm not on about Froch as a fighter I'm talking about him getting wound up by Groves...

During the build up to the last fight Groves was pushing his buttons getting reaction after reaction. Froch knows this, hence why he's hired a psychologist. Now he's trying to act calm and cool when Groves is speaking (all be it, we can still see him gritting his teeth and biting his lip trying to hold it in) but that's not Froch, that's what he's being told to do.

 

At the top of any sport, in this case fighting for a world title, you do things to gain a mental edge to give you any extra chance of coming out on top.

I've followed Groves since he turned pro, the first fight was big and this one is massive... if he knows getting in Froch's head, saying things here and there to wind him up will give him an advantage then by all means do it.

 

Yeah okay, but even so Froch still shat all over Groves in that latest exchange! :bbb

Especially towards the end, when Groves was DESPERATE for Froch to look at him. Pay me some attention you could almost hear him screaming. He hates not being able to control Froch.

Anyway, it's all good fun, but only 31st matters in the final analysis...

 

Groves is overdoing it with the mind games. This fight will be won and lost in the ring on May 31. I picked Groves to win the first time. This time I'm going with Froch. I just don't see Groves being any better than he was in their first fight, but more crucially I don't see Froch being as bad.

GG hit Froch with everything for six rounds and he still couldn't put him away. Yes, the stoppage may have been premature, but undoubtedly Groves was in trouble and Froch had got a second wind. But even previous to the stoppage, Groves turned his back during their exchanges in previous rounds more than once.

I have a strong feeling that Froch will go through him. Groves needs to be careful he doesn't lose a lot of the goodwill he earned for his performance in their first fight. He is starting to come across as an arse. The attempt at mind games is wearing thin.

Hired a psychologist? All the GB national squad boxers have access to one in Sheffield, along with all the other best facilities of everything. Groves seemed in desperation mode, trying to "win round 1" while Froch knew the fight hadn't started. Even if Froch wins again, I'm sure all Groves fans on here will be proud of remembering his blistering pre-fight combinations. even if they hit fresh air

I do think he is slightly deluding himself with regards to his performance in the first fight. There were instances he was turning his back when Froch landed some shots and he was eating some leather towards the point of the stoppage. He didnt do what he said he was going to do, and whatever way anyone spins it, he did not win the first fight. Take the stoppage aside and there were still rounds left, so it was open for either man to still legitimately win it, and the way it was looking, was that momentum was swinging towards Froch.

Groves can keep telling himself how much "better" he was than Froch but, after his ferocious start and bossing the first half of the fight, it become more competitive as rounds wore on and Froch got himself slowly but surely in to the fight and Groves looking the weaker man up to the point of the stoppage.

So look, we know it was stopped early, but that fight was still there to be won, it wasn't a given, than if the ref hadn't of stopped it then Groves was gonna win or survive until the final bell.
