Last night, there was so much holding, forearming, headlocks it looked more like a wwe event then a boxing match. And the referees are reluctant to enforce warnings and be consistent based on the reputation of the fighter. In my opinion the fight suffers from the ref is not strict enough to warn and then punish fighters for breaches. We saw it when khan was finally given a warning for excessive holding, the fight started to open up as collazo was not getting smothered every time he got on the inside caught had no other choice but to stand toe to toe and it worked out for him as a result. The floyd is using his forearm against maidana every time he tries to get on the inside and doesn't get warned.
The amount of holding Floyd gets away with is disgraceful. Every frickin fight, again and again. The forearm stuff is just blatant and I have no idea why no one picks up on it.
Weeks had a **** poor night again, Maidana would have one hand free in the clinch & would be throwing punches but good old Weeks would jump right in there & break em up.
Agreed, the commission needs to re educate all of their referees on the queensberry rules. Holding is the most unenforced rule in the sport because it doesnt cause immediate damage. But you got whole fights stank out or results which shouldnt have been because a fighter hasn't learnt proper defensive skill. All the refs sucked tonight except Bayless but he only got a somewhat easy bout to control
