So much more successful than Canelo? The consensus was the canelo is better in pretty much every category, not to mention bigger.

Canelo lacks the stamina and balls to go all out. Had he or the Ghost or any of those other opponents went all out like a Fullmer, Basilio, Pryor, Duran, or a Frazier they too would have been as successful. Canelo lacks the stamina to employ this type of fight.

Canelo lacks Chinos Heart.. but if chino and canelo were to fight, I expect canelo to stop chino.. so as you can see styles make fight

I remember canelo attempting to pressure floyd even in the late rounds, but always being countered?

Maidana is an aggressive pressure fighter and that kind of style, in theory, can trouble a pure boxer. Canelo is a boxer who likes to counterpunch. His game is boxing and he was never going to out-box Floyd.

In other words, if Canelo could bring pressure like the 5 Hall of Famers you just named, he'd have a chance.

    Ok.

Canelo is a boxer-puncher, Maidana is a swarmer. Canelo waits then counter punches you with his combinations. Completely different styles.

I always thought this. Canelo didn't really seem to try IMO.

They don't fight the same way. Have we ever seen Canelo jump on someone like that, and waste so many punches and energy? He has a more classic boxer-puncher style. He could not employ that gameplan. He cares about things like technique, timing, accuracy, defense, and counterpunching. He just happens to be a pretty big guy at 154.

Canelo tried to box Floyd, he thought his speed & combinations would be enough, when you give Floyd time & space you just get countered to death like Canelo did.
Maidana wanted a fight, if Canelo employed the same tactics he would have had way more success like Castillo, Maidana & to some extent Hatton did.

Yep, also Canelo, a ring technician in the making, thought about what he was doing too much whilst Maidana just flailed in with his head, low blows, rabbit punches, even an attempted Muay Thai knee to the face - basically everything but the kitchen sink.

Maidana's 'success' was also largely due to Floyd appearing to be distracted and willing to go to the ropes way too much.

Here's the thing. The official scorecards were exactly the same. Most of the fans think Chino did better than Canelo, but it was a completely different style. I would say Maidana ambushed Floyd in a more exciting way, but I think it was debatable who did better. Like, for example, I thought Canelo did better at center ring than Chino did. Chino got tagged in rounds 7-10 when he stopped coming forward and just tried to box Floyd. Whereas Canelo was able to box Floyd and have mostly even rounds vs Floyd from distance all fight.
