Lets give Robert Garcia some credit....

Garcia deserves tremendous credit. Initially, he worked out improving Maidana's jab and making him a more rounded fighter but for the Floyd fight, they'd obviously worked on using non-stop intelligent aggression.

His style last night was like an improved version of the old Maidana.

 

I just wrote the same thread but you beat me to it!

Garcia took over after Maidana got made to look incredibly one paced by Devon Alexander. Since then he's stopped this next 3, demolished Broner and put in a damn good shift against Mayweather last night.

There hasn't been a massive amount of change either, just lots of small bits: better footwork and tighter defense being the obvious ones. I'd love to see a rematch with Khan, both impressed me last night.

 

I would like to see a rematch between Alexander and Maidana just to see if this current version can win, although I wouldn't be suprised If Alexander won again.

Alexander is beatable but seems to struggle more with straighter more technical punches and pressure in the Kotelnik and Matthysse fight, and seem to have the answer for Maidanas looping shots.

 

It would be an interesting barometer and Garcia has improved Maidana's jab considerably and straightened up his shots (although sometimes, looping shots are more effective).

The fight won't happen though because Maidana has moved up a level in terms of the fights he can get and I'm quite thankful for that because I'm never particularly eager to watch Alexander fight anyone.

 

Garcia is awesome.

Maidana has definitely considerably improved so Garcia certainly deserves great credit

In addition, I think Ariza deserves credit as well. For Maidana to keep up that pace throughout 12 rounds requires an amazing amount of commitment in the training room.

 

but according to some, Maidana hasn't improved much cuz he's 30.

 

His balance is way better recently and he doesn't gas out.
