Has his mobility taken a hit? The way I saw it, Mayweather could've easily used lateral movement to avoid Maidana and just potshot, but he kept backing up to the ropes especially in the early and mid rounds. Do you guys think age is starting to creep up a bit in Mayweather's legs?

I thought it was Maidana's style and pressure that kept him on the ropes. Styles makes fights same thing with miguel cotto when he got floyd on the ropes. But when floyd fought guys like guerrero or canelo they didn't bring enough pressure and floyd was able to move good. but who knows floyd is getting old too.

    He showed some decline.

Bernard Hopkins former trainer the great late Bouie Fischer said the first thing to go with a fighter is his legs. When Bouie was in hospital Bernard asked him " can I keep fighting?" Bouie told Bernard to shadow box and focused on Hopkins' legs and gave him the approval to carry on fighting.

I truly, truly believe Mayweather showed that he lost a step. Chino trapped him on the ropes . I don't believe it when he says he tried to give the fans what they wanted to see. His gameplan was to let maidana punch himself out when he got pushed back to the ropes.

Maybe both. People walked out on the Guerrero and Baldomir fights and he probably didn't like that.

Elbows and a right cross 5 seconds left in round for judges to justify donating the round!!!!

Whoever thinks Maidada put him there dksab, Floyd wanted to fight him on the ropes to give the fans an exciting fight.

    Fact. Irrefutable actually.

Fought cotto laid on the ropes a lot, they said Floyd's legs are gone. Fought Guerrero and used his legs all night, fought Canelo and used his legs and stood in front of canelo all night. He is 37 and not getting any younger.

Floyd likes to lay on the ropes through out his last 5 or so fights, but just two guys were able to pressure him there effectively. Maidana was throwing the overhand right to the top and back of Floyd's head rabbit punching him when he was on the ropes. Which worked well with Floyd on the ropes.

I would think mayweather still has legs enough to stay off the ropes and out box Maidana in the middle of the ring if there is a rematch. I say this with the right ref that will not allow the rabbit punches, knees, low blows, and break them on the clinch.

Did he also choose to make himself look terrible in the process?

Floyds stock dropped greatly in the weekend. He was above Pacquaio after the Bradley fight. Many have him back below Pacquiao at this time because "he chose to" throw himself against the ropes against a B level fight and got put through a hell of a fight.

Floyd had no choice, Ricky Hatton gave Mayweather the same type of problems but Maidana was three times as good as Ricky Hatton last night
